Wise gets touchline ban
Wise gets touchline ban
Monday, 29th Oct 2007 13:29

Dennis Wise has been given a three-match touchline ban over his outburst against the referee at Gillingham last month.

Wise was charged with using abusive and/or insulting words towards Danny McDermid at half-time of Leeds' match against Gillingham on 29 September, after the official had sent off Tresor Kandol before the interval for two bookable offences. And McDermid must have taken Wise’s words to heart, because he also dismissed Jermaine Beckford in the second half.

As sure as night follows day, Wise has ineviatably been punished, even though any other manager would also have lost their rag after McDermid’s unbelievably petty performance. At a Regulatory Commission hearing last week, Wise was fined £5,000 and given a three-match touchline ban that starts with the FA cup visit to Hereford on Friday November 9.

An FA spokesman said: "The Commission invoked a previous suspended one match touchline ban and issued a further two match ban. In reaching its decision, the Commission took into account Wise's poor recent disciplinary record." Not to mention Wise's poor disciplinary record thoughout his career.

Meanwhile, The FA have charged referee McDermid with using abusive and/or insulting words towards Wise. This is alleged to have occurred following the match and  McDermid has until 13 November to respond to the charge.
