Parties that are backing Leanne Wood for First Minister achieved approximately 57% of the vote compared to parties backing Carwyn Jones for First Minister who only got approximately 43% of the vote.

They all need to stop this nonsense and get on with running the Country, if Leanne Wood is happy to accept the Conservatives and UKIP backing her then she has gone right down in my estimation.

Daft buggers the lot of them, playing silly games when there's a country to be run.

So are Plaid expecting UKIP and the Tories to back Leanne for free or will there be any policy concessions? Can we expect Tory and UKIP ministers under Leanne? I bet they can't wait to implement Plaids socialist manifesto.

The ball is in Labours court, Labour do not have a majority, they have just under 50% of the seats but they only have about 33% of the vote, the system in Labours favour hey ?
Labour do not have a majority, Labour should go to Plaid as the next biggest party and say 'how can we work together ?', 'what do you want ?', 'but remember we are the bigger party'.

If I was Plaid I would demand at least two things that Leanne is First Minister for half a term and that the M4 relief road follows Plaids proposed route so the rest of the money can be spent across Wales.

I fear that come the next meeting that Plaid will not put forward Leanne, saying they have given Labour a bloody nose and shown them they don't have a majority and cant do what they like in certain circumstances.
But if I was Plaid, I would stick to my guns [unless they known somebody or some group is for turning], If Labour don't make concessions to Plaid I would say to Kirsty Williams to try and get her backing that she could be deputy First Minister and that there will be no need for Plaid to give any concessions to the Conservatives or UKIP, they can support Leanne if they want a change from Carwyn or the Conservatives and UKIP can support Carwyn for First Minister its up to them.

Your first paragraph makes sense, but I honestly think Leanne Wood, and indeed Plaid as a whole need to distance themselves from the Conservatives and UKIP a bit sharpish... Or risk a lot of unhappy people in Rhondda.

She didn't win that seat on the back of cosying up to the Tories, and Plaids plan to build outward from Rhondda and gain more support that way will be dead in the water unless they distance themselves.

Get on with the job, Wales has issues that need solutions quickly, not this mob (labour included) scheming around each other.

After decades of voting Plaid [after Labour became a right wing party] I disagree.

Plaid always 'do the right thing' and stick to principles [generally speaking], it doesn't get them anywhere, Labour are nearly as far right as the Conservatives, working with Labour is not a lot different to working with the others as Plaid are left of centre all the others are on the right.

Something like a quarter of the population of Wales was not born in Wales, not many of them will vote for Plaid because of scaremongering by the Labour party in the main [as well as other parties to a degree] and scaremongering by the media both London and Cardiff based.
Plaid have been too respectful, too straight, too nicey nice in the past, they need to play the game to achieve their aims.
No agenda because who I vote for, but I think a strong Plaid is good for Wales, a strong Plaid can help keep the Westminster parties on their toes, Plaid have no agenda other than whats best for Wales, the same cant be said for the Westminster parties as they are UK wide parties and often they have a conflict of interest between what is best for Wales and what is best for London, the South-East of England and the UK.

bollocks. Leanne Wood has just demonstrated that she would do whatever it takes to become First Minister, including courting the likes of UKIP and the Tories. Where does that fit in with Plaids community socialism.

I don't know why you're bringing English voters into this. I know plenty who gave their list votes to Plaid. Just another one of your warped outlooks and excuses.

If you genuinely think Labour are going to share the FM role with Plaid you need to check your medication as well.

Aaaaaand there you have it, folks.

Trampie accurately summarizes exactly how the core Plaid supporters and elected representatives think and act. To them, this isn't theatre. They genuinely do want to see Leanne Wood as first minister right here, right now. The fact that this could only happen with UKIP and Tory support (and we know what tat means), is irrelevant to them.

They desperately want Leanne Wood to be First Minister and spend the next five years whipping up a nationalist storm, just like they did in Scotland. I am not exaggerating. The SNP did deals with the Tories in Scotland well before they became a majority government. They are doing the exact same thing here.

To give you a recent example of how similar Plaid's actions are to the Tories, two out of three of their MPs abstained on the benefits cuts bill from Westminster. At the assembly level, their former AM, Mohammad Asghar, is now a Tory AM.

This isn't a coincidence.

Plaid have nothing to lose, its the way forward as far as I am concerned for Plaid to attack opponents and flex their muscle, if the media and Labour spin things against Plaid, what's new ?, if Plaid aren't the biggest party in Wales in a General Election or a Welsh Assembly Election, then what's new ?, Plaid have nothing to lose.

Attack, attack.......attack, attack, attack.
