Just about the mickey mousiest Coup of all time
I wouldnt put it past Erdogan to have manufactured this to strengthen his own position. it will certainly have a significant impact on the Turkish tourism sector that has already been massively struggling
Erdogan has now sacked over 1000 Judges! I can't quite see how that's linked to a military coup? Don't forget Hitler initially used democracy for his own ends and more people voted for him than any other party in 1933. Erdogan will lead Turkey to more bloodshed, divisiveness and probably a wider civil war than the one he's currently waging on the Kurds.

Not sure what cocktails have to do with it. Erdogan's a grade A authoritarian who's renounced Turkey's secular constitution, sponsored Islamists fighting Assad and has a taste for repression, confrontation with the Kurds and ending the freedom of the press. Of course he has a popularity base, he's made sure that the socially and religiously conservative demographic in the East is on side but in the process he's created a deeply divided nation.
Military coups rarely end well, however.
The 'Cocktail Party Circuit' of media and left leaning politicos who purport that Turkey is as deeply divided as you're under the impression it is. If you remove the Kurdish people from the opinion polls / electoral results, we note that Turks themselves are very conservative in their views, whether they support Erdogan or some other centre / extreme right or religious based politics.
'Turkey’s post-coup crackdown took a sinister turn on Tuesday after tens of thousands of teachers were fired and all the country’s university deans were told they faced suspension.
The licences of 21,000 staff working in private schools were revoked, more than 15,000 employees at the education ministry were sacked, and the state-run higher education council demanded the resignation of 1,577 university deans.'
'The suspensions followed Monday’s purge targeting other ministries and state institutions.
The employees include 9,000 police, 2,745 judges, 8,777 from the interior ministry 1,500 from the finance ministry, 257 staff working at the prime minister’s office, at least 100 from the National Intelligence Agency MIT, 399 from the family and social affairs ministry and 492 from the religious affairs ministry.'
Who knows if Erdogan was behind the coup himself, but he certainly seems to have had plenty of plans ready to put into immediate action that further serve his cause because of it.

A ban on wikileaks too.

The fella that Erdogan wants returned from the USA, was one of the main forces in the development of the 'Justice and Development Party' AKP. Best buddies with Erdogan. He ran most of the opposition out of town. And now Erdogan wants his bollocks on a Kebab Skewer? (less than no chance of him being returned to Turkey)
If I was a cynic, I would ask if Uncle Sam ever learns................(creating a monster doesn't mean you can control him) If you provide funds to create a Political Party in another country (2001)...............don't be surprised when the chosen leader (nutter) turns round and bites you.
What's going on?
We should be told.
Sort it out.

'The Turkish FA said in a statement that every member of all its committees had tendered their resignations “for the well-being of the ongoing security investigation” into the activities of Gulen.'
