Mariners all at sea against the Super U's tonight 15:30 - Dec 5 with 1972 viewsdurham_exile

After a stuttering draw on Tuesday night against the Reds of Crawley, SB and his charges entertain Ian Holloway’s Mariners on Saturday evening 1730hrs kick off at the JSCS.

Now I am keeping this short because frankly I am swamped with things to do at present.

Weather in Colchester mostly cloudy dry and 4 degrees Celsius.

Team:

Gerken

Welch-Hayes Eastman Sowunmi Bramall

Stevenson Chilvers

Harriott Bohui

Brown Folivi

Subs:

George Gambin Lapslie Miranda Norris Cowan-Hall Poku

Of course, I will be wrong Senior will play and Poku will start. Do not know about Pell’s fitness.

Now do not get me wrong I like Poku I just think he has not advanced as much as he should have done after last season.

Just a plea to SB, please play two strikers and let Brown have some decent support if you want him to score more goals. Aimless high balls to him when isolated and surrounded by three defenders is no good at all.

Score 3-0 to Colchester

Frankly, this is a must win and a must win handsomely. Especially so after Scunny warmed up with another win today.

Hard won, but tremendous spirit - loved the debut from Junior Tchamadeu, that's a kid with real potential! Great that our supporters got a gritty victory to celebrate on their return to the ground.

Phew!!
Just!

Need to find something better on Tuesday but this should be a boost!
Delighted for the fans.
The young lad did well. Gambin looked stronger too, we need that from him with the midfielders as they are.

MFB. Please don't use future U's fixtures. It'll cost me loads of points forecasting U's defeats just to spur them to win.
Think most of the board forecast 2-1 today.

I rarely pick a U's fixture myself Gerry, it is the guest's. There was a time when you always predicted the U's to win no matter what the situation. There were 9 who predicted a 2-1.

I saw Peter Barlow's debut v Bournemouth 1966. Believe me, Junior Tchamadeu's debut was far more impressive.

It got cold but thawing out now.

I think we escaped with a victory - a draw would have been fair but who cares about fair if we win

Gritty performance . Two goals in first half down to rubbish defending from corners. Brown and Norris linked up well , but Harriott’s persistence won us the game.
Defending in numbers at the end, but kept getting bodies in the way .
Nice to be back with a home win however it comes .

Three points, great. Some “supporters” booing whilst players took a knee, very far from great.

Shouldn’t be too difficult to identify the culprits. Ban them or don’t bother talking about racial equality again. Are we really on a par with Millwall?

I missed that on the live stream, but seen others on the Past Present Future FB page really pleased about this. Apparently, FB doesn’t like my frank opinion of them and won’t let me express it. Seems “you’re a racist c’nt” breaches their policy.

Facebook is another organisation that needs to have a long, hard look at itself and decide where it’s priorities lie if your comment breaches policy but support for booing the players taking a knee doesn’t. I know which I object to the most.

The ball is in Facebook’s court now, left the group and reported why to Facebook - doubt they’ll do anything about it though. Apparently some of our players, particularly Harriott, were appalled at the booing and took to Twitter after to make their feelings known. Shameful behaviour from a small group of racists - no place for them here, find them and ban them.

The club have been forced to issue a statement on the official FB page.

Disgraceful behaviour on the first game where fans are back. Could destroy our team which is the extremely multi racial.
Personally I am all in favour of the knee as the world at large needs to wake up to the latent racialism in society.

The club quite rightly condemn the behaviour of a MINORITY who where situated in the South stand. With such a low attendance the club should be able to locate the culprits so they cannot attend in the future home matches .
For those who did not return, for info, no entrance from normal turn styles, but via main side gates, with scan of printed tickets or directly from phones. Every other row unused with seats taken out for easy access. The West ,South and East stands used for the social distancing measures to take place. No catering facilities available in concourse.

Great statement from the chairman today, in response the small minority that decided to boo on Saturday. Such a pity, however, that it's their actions that earn the club a place on the front page of the BBC website.
