Innit. The greedy, thieving Socialist mindset in action. Someone does well in life, so they should be punished for it. "I want what he's got".

For all their railing about "greed" and "fairness", there is nothing more avaricious than a leftie.

Hard work isn't the only ingredient, but it helps.

You have to have a system that rewards effort and success or nobody will bother. That's why full on Socialist economies always, ALWAYS end up failing.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

If you take away ambition and hope from the younger generation there will be nobody to generate wealth in the future and without that there are no jobs or tax revenue.

If he does dodge his taxes then as long as its legally done then well done to him, look at those with much greater wealth.

And I pay enough taxes I get slaughtered, so yes I will moan.

Anyway I'm off out now play tidy

We should all dodge our taxes then.

It's not even that. I've spoken to serious lefties who see no reason why doctors should earn more than typists. A system where everyone is equal. Which then begs the question as to why anyone would bother training up to be a doctor.

A lot of people have absolutely convinced themselves that the reason why Musk et al are so rich is because they have somehow "taken" from others, as if wealth is a finite resource. Musk became rich by providing services that people want. He employs hundreds of thousands of people, many of whom have also become multi-millionaires as a result. Both he personally, his businesses and employees pay tens of billions a year in taxes.

A system that creates the likes of Elon Musk is a system that works.

No. I don’t hate farmers at all. Why would I ?
But I do think everyone should pay their fair share. Farmers included.
As for Amazon etc, yes, they should be hit up in the air and made to pay their taxes.
Why do ordinary working people have to make up for the tax dodgers?

I don't know why but it appears they're the only target, regardless of what their ( emphasis on their) is worth they contribute much more to the country than say Apple, without farming how do we feed the nation, farmers who in my opinion should be celebrated & supported rather than vilified by this government & others.

When you say tax dodgers are you talking about someone who fails to declare income and illegally fiddles the tax or someone who legally reduces their tax liability within the current tax rules. If its the second exactly where do you draw the line. Is someone who saves in an ISA instead of a tax paying savings account a tax dodger or does it only apply to those with more money than you causing you to be jealous.

If one has an ISA then it’s to avoid tax

Well , it is surely a matter of semantics , ie ,avoiding tax is the same as dodging tax
Anyone buying duty free at an airport is effectively “ dodging “ tax
People are often unaware of their hyprocrisy
It’s a word that makes one feel awkward

As you say its a matter of semantics. Personally I see avoiding paying the tax you owe as illegal. Legally limiting the amount of the tax you owe is both acceptable and sensible.

U Turn on Farm Inheritance Tax on 16:33 - Dec 27 with 523 viewsDr_Winston

There is a clear and legally recognised difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion.

Tax avoidance is using legal means and loopholes to reduce the amount of tax owed. People who buy duty free do this. A lot of online shopping used to be covered by a "de minimis" rule when it came to import duty, something being slowly phased out.

Tax evasion is dodging tax owed when there are no legal reasons or exemptions allowing for such. If you've ever paid a tradesman cash in hand, you've almost certainly been a party to it.

Surely they are communists and not just lefties though. A lefty having social principles and goals of wealth creation are not mutually exclusive. Maybe the lefties were at the extreme end of the scale?

Little victories and all that, even though they aren't victories cause whatever anyone gains with an ISA they lose in other ways, like the 40% on the extra hrs people may work, you're virtually victimised for doing extra work in the real sense.

People are actually losing money for for working extra hours, you couldn't make it up honestly.

HMRC are usually too late to the table.
Most of them will have gone bust as Ltd companies, not paid a penny, and started up again in a different name.
It should not be allowed.

I agree and yes there should still be investigations if they go bust and any large amounts of capital that have seemingly disappeared investigated, to many loopholes that make things to easy, in some cases and not all in fairness, businesses do go tits up through no fault of the business owners.

So somebody has &20k to invest for his kids
He’s googled two options from Nationwide
1. Fixed deal at 5% gross or
2. ISA at 4.5%

With one , tax is paid
With two , tax is not therefore child gets money Government doesn’t , a government that might be Tory

Yes, tax dodging benefits children

However Builty would choose option 1 so he could pay tax to the government rather than give money to siblings

That simple

Thomas McAllister, a scrap metal dealer who was based at the Rover Way caravan site in east Cardiff, dodged £80,208 in tax between April 2019 and April 2022. The taxman has imposed a penalty of £50,531.
All I can say HMRC , good luck. Doing a refurbishment project adjacent to that shi**hole a few years back and the only way we could get the job done safely and without having to remove heavy plant each day was to pay the smelly b***ards a "retainer " I wonder was that declared.?

I can't understand why there hasn't been a debate on exchanging rollover relief and scrapping IHT for farmers. If it's genuinely about farming then the removal of rollover relief stops the inflation of farmland and allows tenant farmers the opportunity to own their own land

Personally I think the miss management of farming and agriculture in general will only increase food prices and inflation, governments need to look long term not a short term fix.
