Another very good report Keef, Joel Ward has been more than a decent player, but he's got to be 32/33 at least now, he can still help us though I'd have thought on and off the field, seeing has he's been there and done it. I know nothing of Rak-Sakyi though.

Refreshing to read clubs/managers are seeing what we are doing and that can only be a good thing down the line. Maybe it's always been the case? But at least the club is getting some stability and not a mess like Chelsea, Celtic, Man Utd etc. Granted they live in different worlds. I know it could mean very little come the end of the window and it's about results, and as Keith said lessons to be learned what happened with Kim. But I'm looking at hopefully we get 3 strong home wins in January and get up that table.

DoB 29-10-89 - so age 36. I wondered whether he would still have the pace to operate at full back. He might be better as a centre back, a position he also played in. [Post edited 7 Jan 12:10]

In hindsight we probably would have been better off keeping Naughton for another year.

Yeas, that seems to be his preference. It will all boil down to his fitness stats and things like pace, flexibility and body strength which the Swans will put him through before this moves forwards. Obviously there’s a medical which will contain a lot of this. If he doesn’t match up he won’t be signed.

| Swansea City : Jesurun Rak-Sakyi update and Josh Key back up named on 23:00 - Jan 7 with 1661 views | Dr_Winston | I remain not hugely convinced that we need to be running out and making significant changes to the squad. I would wholeheartedly support swapping Benson for another loanee winger if we can. I think Key showed enough in the first half against WBA to suggest that reports of his demise may be exagerrated. I think Widell is a goal away from a run of them. I'd like to see more of Wales instead of going out and borrowing a striker. Realistically we're not going down, and will probably not go up either. Time to do some serious evaluation before the Summer window and a proper attack on the top six. [Post edited 7 Jan 23:00]

We definitely need another striker since Idah is out for 3 months.

Not necessarily. Vip is the main man and will expect to start most of the remaining fixtures. Cullen will be back from injury soon and we also have Wales. Most (myself included) probably feel Cullen isn't an out and out striker, certainly not at this level, but he can do the job for a game here and there whilst Vip is being rested. Wales needs more minutes on the pitch, and an injury to Idah gives him that potential opportunity. We're not going to go out and splash the cash signings another proven striker who can knock in 12+ goals a season at this level. Because we would then have that player, Vip and Idah all on the books. Any loanee player is likely to be an understudy to Vip, so again there are likely to be more attractive offers where more game time will be offered and likely which is normally the rationale for loans. In a nutshell... Unless one of the three I've mentioned above moves on... I can't see another striker coming in this window.

Almost. Morgan's Hotel. Spotted there on 29th December, so it's been a while agreeing terms.

That’s a relief. If he had been in to the city centre to get to the Doplphin his demands would either have gone up or he’d have just turned round & decided not for him

This would be fine if our strikers were playing 90 minutes. They aren’t, because they are being asked to press hard, so it’s usually been Vipotnik for 60/70 minutes, then Idah or Cullen for the rest. Occasionally it’s the other way round to keep Vipotnik fresh or give Idah minutes. As it stands, Cullen won’t be covering for Vipotnik, they’ll be sharing a role, just Vipotnik will have the lions share of minutes. If Wales is deemed ready, it’s not a big deal. He’ll swap in for Idah and battle it out with Cullen for the last 20 minutes role. If he’s not, and neither Sheehan nor Matis has wanted to play him so far, then we need someone on as cover. Doesn’t have to be competition. I agree with you, anyone seriously capable of challenging to be main striker would be expensive and/or expect to be first choice. I’d be looking at a Joel Ward style signing up front.

From what I have seen so far I don't think Idah is very good. Although I don't believe we should currently spend on a forward I wouldn't be against a loan with an option to buy. Sooner or later Idah has to deliver or he will follow the path of Yates. [Post edited 9 Jan 14:24]

I’m not writing Idah off, but until he comes back, I think we’re very short considering Vipotnik and Cullen will probably share every game. Different argument if Wales is ready. I’m only sceptical there, because he’s barely been given anything by either manager

I'm not to sure on seeing any improvement coming from Idah, poor signing for me, then again the powers that be must have seen something in him etc. Perhaps he'll turn the corner like Vipotnik has come next season, who knows.

He probably had good stats, IMO a poor criteria to sign players. Galbraith is the exception not the rule as far as I am concerned.

Going into the last couple of hours of the transfer window we had two, unless you count Wales who apparently was bought for the future. [Post edited 9 Jan 20:38]
