| Borehamwood Tuesday 10:06 - Feb 2 with 10120 views | Dalenet | As they say, another 6 pointer. Borehamwood have faltered a little recently and lost at home to Boston on Saturday and collected two red cards to boot. Watching their managers post match interview he wasn't happy with his players at all. He also said that with the two red cards, and injuries, he now has 40% of his squad unavailable for selection. Could be a good time to play them - although we must not take anything for granted. Get at them from the off. | | | | |

Initial reaction at the time from behind the goal was it looked offside, but it’s impossible to tell even from that. Looking at TAR over the far side, he could be playing him on. That camera angle makes it so hard to tell.

Does that include all penalties, whether scored or not? And, if poss... is that the longest gap between penalties conceded? NB: no worries if that involves a lot of work [Post edited 5 Feb 1:22]

Sorry, I should have been clearer, by 'conceded' I meant penalties we have given away. That Dagenham penalty was the last one an opposing team were given at Spotland until Tuesday night. There were 731 days between the penalties. It's difficult to answer the other question as there aren't comprehensive records of missed penalties. I've got as many as I saw, can remember of have read about, but there will be some missing, especially from the 'olden' days. However, it looks like there were no penalties for any visitors between the opening day of the 1992/93 season (v Halifax) and 1st October 1994 (v Doncaster), which is 777 days and therefore longer than the recent gap. Doncaster actually miss theirs. Finding the difference between scored penalties is easier as I have them all. Discounting the war years, the longest gap between opponents scoring pens at Spotland is 1407 days from 15th Dec 1923 (Barrow) to 22nd Oct 1927 (Lincoln). The recent gap of 731 days is ninth on the list.

Thanks for that. It's something that may correlate with defensive soundness, or it could just be the 'law' of averages. We're obviously going through a period of conceding fewer goals than average but it'd be interesting to know if there's specific training for our players in avoiding conceding penalties, e.g. by practicing one-on-ones in the box, awareness of arm movements etc. Just to add, Ollie bringing down their lad on Tuesday was pretty unavoidable in the circumstances, though it's been suggested there was an offside involved [Post edited 5 Feb 12:41]

The last time was when we played Notts County, in the 1960s Glen Campbell sang about it "I am a lineman for the County"
