Amber Taverns apparently looking to take some pubs in London.
Speciality ? Pints as low as £2.50(!), no scran, just nuts and crisps. The Downside - TVs showing sports and entertainment channels. Sounds like there would be several screens in each pub.
I had never heard of them as they are apparently based oop north.

It would need to be something special to get me travelling that far for a pint.
Looking at their website their next nearest pub to London is in Bedford, and there's also one in Portsmouth. I hadn't heard of them before but they are definitely spreading out across the land. Staff reviews complain about crap pay and long shifts. And they seem to be very student friendly - which I'm sure will go down well with the age profile on this forum :-)

Got briefly excited (a rare event these days) when my old manor Bromley was mentioned but having looked at their website it all sounds a bit of a damp squib to me: ‘We offer leading brands such as John Smiths, Fosters, Birra Moretti, Heineken, Guinness and Strongbow’. Hmmm.
Don’t mind a pint of Guinness now and then but there’s nothing there to tempt the discerning drinker (or prise me from the Red Lion). Looks like it’s going to be next to the Diner’s Inn Cafe, one of my old haunts, so might look in out of curiosity when I’m in the area. |  | | |

Went to one of theirs in Stroud last summer and it was tolerable in so far that it had a couple of cask ales on the pump as well as all the junk, and certainly cheap, but hardly a match for either Spoons for range/food or the more traditional pubs for ales/atmosphere imo. |  | | |
