Come on Timmy? on 06:46 - Sep 11 with 1325 views | ColDale | It has to be said that games are rarely dull when Murray is involved. The monotonous days of old where players simply kept serve throughout seem a million miles off. I think you genuinely have no idea who is going to win any individual game when Murray plays. Lendl seems to have been the making of him.

Agree wholeheartedly. At 2-2 having been 2-0 up and cruising there was only going to be 1 winner of that 5th set! All the momentum was with djokovic - heroic effort from murray in the 5th to get those early breaks - he never would've had the mental strength 12 months ago.

Raising the country's sporting profile a notch. Although registered a GB player, everyone knows he's a Scot and, by God, the Press up here aren't shy about reminding everyone. He's Scotland's equivalent of Rory McIllroy (although Ramsay is looking to boost Scotland's own golf profile once again).

You mean the press both north and south of the border go over the top in their praise for a sportsman..? Who'd have thought.... Tennis to Scotland is like David Cameron to the Olympics....visible but largely unnecessary.

Why is it over the top praise? The last 30 or so grand slams have been won by 3 men - Murray has just broken that stranglehold. A great moment.

The agenda of the Press up here is more about underling that Murray is Scottish rather than British, rather than building him up beyond what he is, as is usually the case with the English Press and, say, our national football team. And you're analogy is wrong. Tennis has become a big deal in Scotland because of Murray. A radio phone-in this morning had people claiming they actually turned off Scotland's inept footballing display last night to watch a Sky Plussed US final. It's still not everyone's cup of tea, of course, but tennis's popularity has risen considerably in Scotland. It is not, as you say, unnecessary. The Murrays and McIllroys of the Home Nations are stealing the limelight as these country's national sports continue to flop competitively.
