I can turn the tables here, I have written many things about Sport Republic, virtually every week I put up something that is critical of Sport Republic, but it is about the manager and the playing side of things.

I have loyalty to Southampton Football Club, but that is a seperate entity to Sport Republic.

But what i see on here sometimes is the opposite, rather than a love of everything SFC, it is a hatred of all and everything and a blame culture.

Sport Republic are not directly responsible for "ALL" things SFC, they pay people to deal with that sort of thing and sometimes in any business things go wrong..

So I chastise SR for not putting in place a Director of football for a year, but if they send out an e mail with a wrong price on it and quickly rectify it, I don't get too bothered, sh*t happens as they say,

I don't think you understand what I said with this

"If you take your last comment that it’s wrong, clouds the water and is counter productive to its ultimate conclusion, then no criticism of Sports Republic ( however small ) would ever be allowed."

You miss the point, i am making, constant bickering about small things just clouds the bigger issues, plenty of criticism of SR is allowed, but when it is of every little thing it is just counter productive, a bit like why people have got sick of the Government blaming the Tories for every thing.

God knows what you mean by these expressions in this contexts

No one is saying that Sport Republic have done a good job, but the way they are getting stick for every little thing is firstly wrong, secondly just clouding the waters on what the real issues are and thirdly counter productive.

Lets get perspective on the core issues

I am taking it in good humour, yes you could say that the ultimately what the ticket office manager does ultimately rests with Sport Republic, but there is the chain of management.

someone mentioned if they have a bad meal at the restaurant they complain to the manager, if it is a small restaurant the manager will probably be the owner, if you are in a Harvester or another chain, not so likely, but you still complain to the manager and not the owner.

So why are people blaming Sport Republic and not the ticket office manager, at the end of the day in the scale of SFC's woe's this year, an e mail giving some wrong info out that was quickly rectified is not the end of the world.

Dragan Solak has a lot more things on his plate than popping over to have a few sharp words with the ticket office manager.

Then perhaps better to read an article first before commenting just on a headline, as headlines are not always what they may seem

Strikers in the Sport Republic reign

I probably wouldn't, but he played his part in our Promotion season and was a good back up.

Yes you will mention Hull City, which is ironic as when I mention Broja and his 6 goals, you always tell me it was his hard work off the ball that made him a good player

So no I wouldn't sign Mara now, but I think under the right manager, these 5 players might have been looked at a little bit differently

Napoleon was a great General, that cannot be ignored, perhaps it was an age where chivalry was still in place.

I don't think Hitler will ever be replaced, however a few people seem to be fancying their chances these days

When Saints got promoted in 1978, Mike Pickering at the back was a rock in defence alongside Chris Nicholl and Tony Funnell came in late and scored vital goals , both only played 2 games each in the top flight, before being sold on

Sport Republic Can Be A Big Success For Southampton Says Spors
at 14:06 24 Mar 2025

Some of the players above were youngsters signed cheaply , Sam Amo ameyaw turned down Spurs at 16 and joined Saints, at the same time so did Jayden Meghoma, at the time it was reported that we paid Spurs £1 million compensation for the pair of them.

Meghoma wa signed by Brentford for around £5 million back in August, he made 1 appearance in the PL as a sub totalling 4 mins, he was loaned to Preston in January, been in the squad 11 times, completed 90 mins just twice from 9 appearances.

Back in the 1960's- 2000's the Southampton way was simple, find players cheaply and develop them, but in many respects the results were fairly similar to today, perhaps every 3 years you would get a player who would establish themselves as 1st team regulars, if you were lucky it would be 2.

Most of the rest would play a few games, but never truly be first team regulars and leave.

We would also buy in players from the lower leagues, sometimes it paid off and sometimes it didn't, everyone remembers Kevin Keegan signed in 1980, few people remember Mike McCartney,.

That was the Southampton Way and indeed for most clubs, for every successful signing there are 3 that don't make it, they play a few games and then get sold on.

Look at any clubs U21 side and few graduate to be a major star at the club.

The main thing even back in the 1960/70's was that the system had to pay it's way.

It is doing that now, look at that list below and we have sold players for somewhere between £175-220 million and some of them could well yet come good, Ronnie Edwards for example & Charles & Welington in the Championship next season.

Add another £30 million when Fernades & Sulemana go.

50 players over 6 years is an average of 8 a season, of that number I would say that around 12 have been successes, ie still in first team contention, sold for a profit or like KWP & Adams got our monies worth, plus several who might yet still make it, such as Edozie, Larios & Welington.

That is similar numbers to most times in our History apart from the Golden period in the late 80's when we had Shearer, Le Tiz etc

In simple terms

A man not even born in the country joins their army does a bit of fighting

Becomes a Politician eventually takes over the Country and becomes the absolute leader with no opposition.

Invades most of mainland Europe and bits of Africa.

Slaughters large numbers of these countries inhabitants and many soldiers both his and the enemy are killed and maimed.

Stops short of invading England.

Tries to make his country the supreme ruler of an empire

Invaded Russia instead, get stopped by the Russian winter and forced to retreat in disarray.

Now on the back foot forced to retreat to the capital, with the enemy now in the outskirts of the city it all ends.

Now this could be Napoleon or it could be Hitler, Napoleon did make a short comeback, he abdicated rather than shot himself.

So why is Napoleon considered a hero in France still, and not vilified as Hitler rightly is, the only real difference between them was that Napoleon did not have the modern science to destroy those in front of him that he hated on an industrial scale.

Pretty basic I know but roughly speaking true

at 13:19 24 Mar 2025

Yes I am seriously suggesting that there has been a mistake in the ticket office that is so far down the list of priorities that Sport Republic have to deal with, that the directors of Sport Republic would have absolutely no input into this error.

If you check your receipt at Tesco's and find that you have not been given the right price on the latest club card offer, you do not take to social media demanding that the Owner & CEO of the company immediately resign, because an employee in the Millbrook branch has got something wrong.

You simply pop along to the services desk, show them your receipt and they give you a refund, if you have got out of bed in a bad mood that morning you might also have a little dig at the person behind the counter.

Sport Republic have a chain of management, the ticket office manager will be right down the list of that.

It is wrong to blame Sport Republic if the ticket office sends out incorrect information, I doubt whether it was Dragan Solak sending out the e mails

I wouldn't put the blame completely on the players themselves.

1. Sekou Mara started only 8 games for the club, but played another 42 as a sub, he was never going to be a regular starter, but for £10 million a good back up player

2. Paul Onuachu, now I'm no fan of Tall Paul but he was a victim of circumstance, signed by Jones who was going to play to his strengths and then had Selles & Martin who weren't' under Juric he has found the net,as it suits his game more, as he has been on loan for one of his years here, we have probably recouped his wages for that year plus a small loan fee.

3. Ross Stewart, has been a gamble gone wrong, he recovered from his injury and then got a different one, possibly due to playing too early

4.Cameron Archer has again been ignored at times by both Martin & Juric, started only 11 games, plus 15 as sub could still come good next season.

5. Ben Brereton Diaz, showed at both Sheffield United the first time and now on loan that he can score in a team formation that suits him, Martin didn't rate him and started him just 4 times in the League and only 6 sub appearances, Juric didn't play him at all, I don't think he will come back here next season, but if he did he could be a potent forward alongside Archer
