The idea that Trump Regime is looking after his country is proper batsh*t, tariffs increase the cost on US consumers, increase inflation, cost jobs and increase the chance of recession.
Hell even Ferris Bueller's day off managed to grasp this, so how the hell anyone else can't is beyond me.
The only thing Trump is doing is enriching billionaires and placating Russia. He has zero interest in either the country or the people in it.
I got back into the habit of reading last year as i realised i'd been really lazy with it and was much more likely to stick the tv on instead.
I try and mix my reading between fiction and non fiction and the slow horses series of books was definitely one of the best i've picked up in a while (also really enjoying the new Murakami too).
Interestingly i find it relaxes me a lot more than watching tv and i definitely find it's a better use of an evening
Having two games against them would be something i'd look forward to because those games are different.
But i'd much rather they got relegated, went bust again, fratton was sold to make way for a tesco, the uk declared a hard land border with portsea island and the entire PO postcode was used as a toxic waste dump (with the residents refused the right to leave it).
Do i think SR are doing the "right" thing. Yes Do I think that much money for an unproven young player is f*cking mental. Yes Do I think this is just another example that football is catastrophically f*cked as a competition. Yes
The points of view aren't mutually exclusive.
In fact you can also extend that to the fact that us getting £100m (we won't) for a single player, plus getting parachute payments will massively skew our chances in the championship of promotion.
But i also think that's a prime of example of how rotten the game has got. Because we can be an absolutely failure of a club and yet start next season with a massive benefit.
Like i say the game is rotten to the core, corrupted by money and greed, and needs to collapse to get better
If we sell a 19 year old kid who's only played half a season, and only scored 2 goals, no matter how good he potentially is, for north of £60m then all it shows is how completely f*cking broken football is and the utter pointlessness of most clubs even trying to compete in the sport
I watched the Italian drama about Mussolini recently - son of the century - and it's actually incredible just how many of the things the original Fascist did that Trump is also doing.
If you actually look at history, and look at the definition of Fascism as written by Umberto Eco, it seems to me there is absolutely no doubt of what the Trump regime is now. I'm just surprised that more people aren't naming it correctly.
I guess partly that'll be down to the fact a lot people get the politics wrong and think Nazism and Fascism are the same thing when they're not. From the same roots and an extension of each other certainly, but to be a fascist doesn't automatically mean to be a nazi.
Saints had/have a very active organised element and have done since about 2017/18.
It's a pretty sizeable group too and has links to Roma's ultras and steaua bucharest too (hence why you sometimes see them or their flags at our games).
The thing is most people won't see it or even know about it so it seems like it's not there.
Like others have said it's definitely not my thing and i don't understand it but we do have a sizeable group
Pretty much identical to my experience too, really think the club dropped a massive b*llock by not having two areas for people to choose from because what we've got now is next to unbearable and makes me hate going to games
Not sure i was willing it to fail, i just thought it was a poorly executed idea. I knew before i moved i'd hate most of the people around me as i tend to feel that way about our away support.
My complaint has always been that there's no choice, they've effectively decided that everyone who wants to stand/make noise is the same and can be lumped in the same place.
As for how many are moving I have no idea, all i know is those i know who pretty much to a man hate the new northam wall.
It does seem like - on social media at least - that we're not alone in this and a fair few folk seem to be thinking the same thing.
Whether or not they'll follow through is a different question. Especially as i think the club will make a point of cracking down on people standing in the chapel
The weird obsession with singing about a players cock was the straw that broke the camels back for me.
I can ignore the Allez Allez nonsense, and i'm sort of resigned to the constant dirge of songs about pompey, but when the majority of the fans are singing about a players penis it's crossed over from being annoying to outright weird and embarrassing.
And i think that's what most of my group have decided too, it's just not enjoyable in the slightest and a complete failure in what it's tried to do. So the best thing we can do is move.
We're moving to the Chapel, had enough of the god awful "bantz" in the Northam Wall, as far as failures go from Sport Republic the moving of the away fans is as bad as the choice of managers.
