The Eels were pretty good. I saw them in the 90s at the Astoria (which has since been demolished for the Crossrail station at Tottenham Court Road).
Have never seen them unfortunately - they're still meant to be good even now so maybe someday. Interesting guy Mark Everett - his dad was a prominent physicist who worked at the Pentagon and I think that Everett's cousin was a flight attendant on the 9/11 plane which crashed into the Pentagon. Everett's dad smoked and drank too much and dropped dead of a heart attack and his sister committed suicide and his mum died of cancer, so his music tends to be 'interesting'.
