Joey Barton Trial on 15:17 - Nov 30 with 5763 views | wroughtironron | Some of his previous:- Barton's career and life have been marked by numerous controversial incidents and disciplinary problems and he has been convicted twice of violent crimes. Barton sparked a ten-man brawl in a friendly match against Doncaster Rovers on 25 July 2004 after "hacking" at an opposition player. Although he signed a new contract on 22 September 2004, which would keep him at City until 2007, the club considered sacking Barton in December 2004 after an incident at their Christmas party. He stubbed out a lit cigar in youth player Jamie Tandy's eye, after he had caught Tandy attempting to set fire to his shirt. Barton subsequently apologised for his actions and was fined six weeks' wages (£60,000). In May 2005, Barton broke a 35-year-old pedestrian's leg while driving his car through Liverpool city centre at 2 am. In the summer of 2005, Barton was sent home from a pre-season tournament in Thailand after assaulting a 15-year-old Everton supporter who had provoked Barton by verbally abusing him and kicking his shin. Barton had to be restrained from attacking the boy further by teammate Richard Dunne. Barton underwent anger management therapy at the order of City manager Stuart Pearce and paid £120,000 in club fines. In the autumn of 2005, Barton began a seven-day programme of behavioural management at the Sporting Chance Clinic, a charity set up to help troubled sportsmen and women. On 20 May 2008, he was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for common assault and affray during an incident in Liverpool City Centre.[ Barton served 74 days of this prison term, being released on 28 July 2008. On 1 July 2008, he was also given a four-month suspended sentence after admitting assault occasioning actual bodily harm on former teammate Ousmane Dabo during a training-ground dispute on 1 May 2007. This incident effectively ended his Manchester City career. Barton has been charged with violent conduct three times by The Football Association: for the assault on Dabo, for punching Morten Gamst Pedersen in the stomach and for attacking three players on the final day of the 2011—12 season. Yes Barton is a dangerous thug, and hopefully justice will be served and he will end up with a long time in prison. If he hadn't been a footballer, he could well have spent a lot longer in prison than he has.

Joey Barton Trial on 09:00 - Dec 1 with 5122 views | DorkingDale | It runs in the family: Anthony Delano Walker (21 February 1987 — 30 July 2005) was a Black British student of Jamaican descent who was murdered with an ice axe by Michael Barton (brother of footballer Joey Barton) and Barton's cousin Paul Taylor, in an unprovoked, racially motivated attack on the night of 29 July 2005 in Huyton, Merseyside. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

One would have thought you’d learnt after your casual racism the other week but that would require intelligence I suppose. [Post edited 1 Dec 2021 10:30]

Joey Barton Trial on 11:08 - Dec 1 with 4941 views | Salegraham | I cannot understand how a club would want this guy as the face of there club, the gasheads must have been desperate at the time they appointed him. Can you imagine the rumpus here if he turned up as the manager.
Joey Barton Trial on 11:18 - Dec 1 with 4920 views | SuddenLad | After stubbing out a LIT cigar in someone's eye in 2004, he should never have been employed in football again. He's clearly a danger to others as his repeat behaviour shows. It's nothing to do with him being from Liverpool - that's a plainly ridiculous comment - he's just a bad b@stard and deserves all the punishment coming his way.

None of the above fit your bigoted description. What's wrong with you? Were you like this before you moved Down Under or is it ingrained?

I suppose there is that crazy possibility that he was actually not guilty and that he was assumed guilty by many due to his past. He is an odious little turd and has a reputation but he is a bright guy that is obviously flawed. If someone tried to set fire to my shirt I would give them a hiding so that guy was hardly innocent, although Barton’s reaction was awful had his shirt caught fire and he suffered serious burns that could be classed as attempted murder. Horrible guy but football and sport in general has loads and Barton gets more grief than many others (some of whom were innocent of any crime eg club’s chairman getting death threats, Olympic athletes wanting name off stand etc. Over Ched Evans). Barton is certainly no worse that Marlon King, Hughes, Ranger, McCormick Giggs Terry Fleming etc in football, AJ, Bruno, Billy Jo Saunders (especially) were horrible characters and the later remains so, Rugby league has its fair share of nasty characters, but Barton is the poster boy for the hatred of the press. Tosser and toe rag, certainly. Worse than many others, certainly not.

Joey Barton Trial on 17:41 - Dec 6 with 3082 views | wroughtironron | Mr Barton's brief will no doubt be counting his fee and adding this well-publicised case to his cv (taken from his Chambers website) :- "Simon Csoka QC Call To The Bar: 1991 Recognised in Chambers & Partners Guide to the Bar 2019 as “at the top of his game and a silk that no other barrister wants to face in court.” Ranked as Band 1 in Chambers & Partners for both Crime and Financial Crime. Totally agree but someone defended the likes of Peter Sutcliffe, Abu Hanza, Pitchfork, Manchester bomber conspirators etc. Waste of tax payers money but it’s the British legal system that is both brilliant and utterly flawed to blame. Obviously comparing any of the above to Barton is ridiculous.
