QPR/Covid what a bloody surprise!! 17:34 - Dec 12 with 28319 views | PlanetHonneywood | I was at QPR on Thursday, popping into both the club shop and box office. Mask wearing and distancing among staff was conspicuous by its absence. Seeing as the off-field staff are likely to have more contact with players and those who come into contact with the players, you’d think these simple measures would be applied. Utter joke! QPR/Covid what a bloody surprise!! on 10:55 - Dec 17 by PunteR | I thought so to. I copied and pasted onto my family WhatsApp group. Nice one Saxbend. |
Funny that; I just did the same on another message board where the same posters keep saying "why should I and my family get vaccinated? We're all low risk..." SB explains it all very eloquently.

QPR/Covid what a bloody surprise!! on 13:13 - Dec 17 with 2538 views | R_from_afar | To get this back onto football, I understand that some clubs (e.g. Carlisle and Wycombe) are working to change their ground capacities, to get round the over 10,000 people COVID rules....
| "Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1." |

It would be easy to "work to change their ground capacity". Just close a part of the ground & it's mission accomplished!
QPR/Covid what a bloody surprise!! on 13:21 - Dec 17 with 2512 views | slmrstid | Amusingly Carlisle have officially changed their current capacity to 9,999, when their highest crowd this season was just under 7,500 and the average is somewhere around 4,750. Really what these clubs are saying is "we're going to cap our ticket sales at 9,999 and avoid all this faff". Can understand that if your crowds are around that mark or just below, the costs of all the extra checks probably well outweigh the revenue from a few hundred extra tickets. I'm sure the thought has crossed Lee Hoos' mind, but at 12/13k we're probably a bit far over for him to do that.
QPR/Covid what a bloody surprise!! on 13:22 - Dec 17 with 2502 views | Stainrod | Hahaha! Had exactly the same on We Are The Rangers Boys (my more usual QPR home). And well done BklynRanger for a very thorough and informative explanation. Not what I expected on a QPR message board, but welcome! I tried to explain - with far less eloquence - on WRTRBs the moral obligation of footballers to get vaccinated but was shouted down. The argument of others was that because footballers are fit and healthy they don't need to vaccinate. The posters (and presumably many players) don't seem to realise (or perhaps care?) that less fit people can and will catch covid from them and die. Several posters even flat denied that the point of vaccination is to reduce the risk of you catching Covid! At which point it is tempting to give up, but then you think if you don't as an individual challenge this ignorance when you have the chance, the virus will spread more. The Covid deniers just insist all opinions are valid". Same as those who argued that MMR would leave children autistic. Or Brexit would make us richer. Its just the triumph of irrationality. Anyway, very good to see on here there are many sensible posters. On a football note I hope QPR will now impose daily Covid testing and the EFL will explore legal options to see how they can insist on players getting vaccinated unless there are specific medical grounds for them not doing so. Otherwise the only solution is what the Brentford manager has said - have a close down for a month or as long as it takes and extend the season.

QPR/Covid what a bloody surprise!! on 14:06 - Dec 17 with 2357 views | TomS | If the former President of the United States went on TV, in his role as leader of the free world, and recommended combatting Covid by: (1) shining a bright light up the patient's ass, or (2) injecting the patient with bleach, Why didn't many vaccine-conspiracy theorists follow his lead? | | | | Login to get fewer ads
QPR/Covid what a bloody surprise!! on 14:28 - Dec 17 with 2276 views | Cliff | Having got over my initial disappointment at not getting to see any more football before Christmas, I'm now thinking it might be a blessing in disguise. I'm vax boosted, and have some natural immunity from having Covid about 2 months ago (caught I believe at the Birmingham match), so I'm probably covered against Covid as highly as is possible at the moment., yet having read of some on here who had already decided not to attend I think I might have agreed with them and not gone to the matches despite having a ST. Now we are within 10 days of Christmas any infections we get will mean isolating over the holiday period and the possibility of feeling really rough AND the possibility of passing it on to our loved ones at the same time. Hopefully when the matches are replayed we will have more data on Omicron and will be able to make better informed decisions about personal risk and attendance. That is of course if the decision isn't taken from us by the government.

Your last point assumes that demand for tickets will remain as normal, which is doubtful.

QPR/Covid what a bloody surprise!! on 10:22 - Dec 17 by Cliff | Yes some did win a nobel prize for working with Ivermectin in humans, however the following is from: https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-nobel-ivermectin-idUSL1N2QB2XA and states: "Social media users claim that the drug Ivermectin is safe to use as it received the Nobel Prize in 2015. While two scientists did win the prize for the medication, this was for parasitic infections and it does not mean the drug is a safe or effective drug in the treatment of COVID-19, a virus. As of this article’s publication, public health authorities in the United States are not recommending ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19. Scientific studies are ongoing." So a horse dewormer can be used, with some associated risks, in smaller doses as a human dewormer, although it can be used to treat other parasitic infections in both humans and horses. Finally just to clarify one thing if it is needed, Covid is a virus NOT a parasite. |
it has anti-parasitic and anti-viral qualities. I'm interested in the narrative against it, for instance that it's purely a horse de-wormer. I certainly wouldn't suggest self-medicating or using it instead of the vaccination, but it's use in conjunction with said vaccine.

crap research? Google Brook Jackson. I was interested in the debate, not the condesencion. It may well be that ivermectin has produced results in certain countries because it kills internal parasites that weaken the immune system. whatever.

My family is supposed to be doing a big get together for Christmas - 18 of us from 6 households. BUT my FIL has serious immune suppression from cancer treatment a couple of years ago. It's all on a bit of knife edge at the moment. Sigh.
