I've just looked up their Wiki stats, and if correct, Done's scored 26 goals for Dale against Thompson's 25
Might put some perspective on their records, since Thompson is rightly remembered warmly and most of Done's goals were in L1

If the respective goals scored ratio is based on that, Done should be accorded at least the same respect as Thompson. The latter was a local lad of course, which probably affects some perceptions |  |

Wiki (and Soccerbase) are notoriously unreliable.
The detailed stats are:
DONE
League: 262 apps, 27 goals
Cups: 48 apps, 8 goals
Total: 310/35
THOMPSON
League: 266 apps, 24 goals
Cups: 44 apps, 0 goals
Total: 310/24

A Matty Done goal, a rarity indeed.......hope he does n't qualify for another contract extension on the strength of it? |
Of the players out of contract, Matt Done has at least staked a valid claim for another 12 months in the second half of the season!
It won't happen, his reaction after the full time whistle pretty much said as much, but when there was a shift to players who were up for the fight Done was one who stood up.

Good piont Boro - if previously crossed my mind that Matty's incomings transfer fee's have surely paid for his out goings wages - my reckoning, although I could be wrong, he's paid for himself to play for Dale - if that's correct one can't say that about too many professional footballers. |  | | |

Not sure there was ever really an argument as almost all fans could see reasons why he’d be released with some valid points about retaining him. It was the completely unnecessary digs by a very small minority which were rightly called out. |  |
