| Former Swansea City boss reveals alarming '£100m black hole' he found at club on 14:07 - Jan 6 by EagleEye | Any relegated club or manager of a relegated club could argue that there is £100m black hole the season immediately after relegation. At the time that was around the value of the income to EPL teams from TV, league position prize money, etc. Relegated sides would receive around £100m over 3 seasons Our owners were only interested in re-couping as much money as they could from their purchase. They sanctioned the sale of any players that would bring in a half decent transfer fee & reduce the wage bill. That said, Potter made a decent job of it given the circumstances. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he felt duped about the state of resources available when he arrived. Still he has done pretty well out of it |

Controlling intake is the issue. I know people who can sit comfortably over a number of hours on soft drinks or a pint or two with people who can’t stop drinking. It’s finding that sweet spot. You say you are feeling ill so any resolution to stop drinking isn’t in your mind atm. Those that state they are going dry for January as a resolution tend to find it extremely difficult. And one month isn’t enough, get to the end of this month and extend it, you may find alcohol just isn’t for you after a sustained period of time. Here’s to you getting better 👍

They will always have some excuse for not achieving. The club would have lost £100 million in revenue when relegated which is probably what he was referring to. They however would have received parachute payments of at least 50% of that. I doubt there was an actual £100 mill black hole.

It took until the sale of Joe Rodon before we were on anything like an even keel. |
This. They never asset stripped

Jenkins was a fairly shrewd financial custodian before the takeover. Once he'd cashed in he couldn't have cared less and spent like a sailor on shore leave. |
I can't agree totally with that. The owners were definitely interferring with things that cost us dearly. ie Them holding out for more money for siggy meaning we lost our targets and then Jenkins was in a market with only overpriced duds left Hiring Bob Trying to sell James on the cheap - Jenkins managed to stop that as his last act. I'm sure there are many more

| Former Swansea City boss reveals alarming '£100m black hole' he found at club on 13:26 - Jan 6 by shandyjack | The resigning of Bony and Ayew must be up there in 2 of the worst financial decisions this club has made in it's history. The fact they were done in the same same season is even more shocking, add in Clucas at £16m. Jenkins really did destroy us at that time |
The owners held on for an extra £5 mill for siggy very late into the window. It meant we had no money for our targets until he was sold and by the time he was sold those targets had gone. Then it was panic stations in a market where everyone knew we were panicking and prices rose subsequently. That extra ' win' of £5 mill cost them a damn sight more.

I can't understand why people need to wait until January. If you want to stop drinking stop, if you don't want to don't. The month should make no difference.

i didn't think it was just for an extra '5m' they held out, i was sure it was also to do with the make up of how the fee would be paid back and they wanted more upfront? I could be wrong though

And their coaching teams etc.
