Absolutely he should be our manager next season come what may.
35 points from 20 games, not afraid to play the youngsters, seems to have rebuilt the cohesiveness of the club and seems to genuinely care about the club.
We can't keep chopping and changing managers - we've seen we end up with bloated squads, mediocre managers and a very dysfunctional club.
While he's still learning it was clear from the moment he took interim charge that he had something about him. | | | |

How can you say he has done just ok, he has been in charge for 20 League games, he has gained 35 points , that is 1.75 points per game, if you equate that ratio over a season that is a total 80.5 points, which is just about in or on the fringes of the play offs in any given season.
Yes it's not spectacular, but it is more than just OK, there is this view that he is some foreign coach with no experience in England, but Eckert was assistant manager at Barnsley when they were in the Championship, so I would say he knows the Championship,
He was assistant at Genoa for 3 years as they got promoted from Serie B to Serie A, so he does have top flight experience, anyway we don't need him to know the Premier League until we are back there.

He’s a thinker, and he talks a lot of sense.
Has also been adaptable; I think he was too slow to ditch 3 CB’s, but he did it just in time for the Fratton game.
I think he’ll have a good career in the game.
I didn’t see myself saying this at Christmas, but I think he deserves a good crack at this job. |  |

This isn't based on opinion though, its based on fact, you say stats mean FA, but one stat that does actually matter is League points, that is the only standard by which you can judge a manager over a season.
So Tonda has a 1.75 average, that is a good average for any manager, but we wont get in the play offs unless he improves it..
Plenty of managers won things in their early 30's without experience, but it is also about the task that that manager has to be judged by and the tolls he has to do the job.
If you fall into the Sport Republic are bad owners and need to get out of the club camp, then Tonda Eckert has done a brilliant job to even have a short at the play offs after Will Still's disastrous spell and poor player recruitment | |

Absolutely he should stay. The only thing that would change things is if we had a disastrous end to the season and finished in the lower half of the table.
The benefits of keeping him next season in the championship:
- He knows the club, including the players coming from the youth team.
- Next season, he will have had Championship experience.
- The summer will be a period of stability with the same manager, hopefully not too much player changes, rather than the chaos of a new manager settling in.
- The players are playing for this guy.
- I don't trust SR to get anyone better
- He is inexperienced but he has done an impressive job, so full credit to him.
- I like the performances on the pitch now.
- He wasn't too stubborn, too arrogant to go 4 4 2.
Whether he has what it takes to get us promotion, only time will tell. Yes, there is a question mark about his experience to achieve this definitely, but he has done well.in a calm and impressive style. I would welcome a calm summer with a settled manager and squad knowing who their boss will be. [Post edited 24 Feb 17:39]

We don’t know the extent of his capabilities but so far he’s done very well, better than ok.
A decent manager with Premier League and Championship experience will cost and this ownership will not recruit anyone like that. A decent manager that ticks all the right boxes will be working already. If they’re not, then we already know their limitations.

I totally agree with this. He's quietly and methodically getting on with the job.
In one of Adam and Jo podcasts , in the early days during the first winning run , one of them said the only concern is when things go wrong, (which it will, and it did) can Tonda learn and adapt?
He's ticked that box now. Let him keep getting the experience, let's not have manager merry go round and take some regular chancer who just love getting sacked and paid off.

I don’t know how much input Tonda has had with the changes but bringing Bree back, getting in a better keeper and bringing Larin in have been excellent business and getting rid of Bazunu and Armstrong now looks like we have so many more options. I rate Tonda and if we had started the season with him instead of Still we would be looking at the top two or three. |  |

Coming from Genoa where Spors was too , they must have a close working relationship .
All the things the fans could see that were wrong have been corrected.
1. Better keeper.
2. Best two CBs put together.
3. Proper fullbacks who are primarily there to defend.
4. Flynn Downes now knows his role and is playing accordingly.

Over the period he has been our manager we are top of the league. Just a shame he wasn't in charge from the beginning of the season, but it's easy to say that with hindsight. |  |

Hindsight about the past is one thing. What I don't understand is those who still seem to doubt him in terms of the future.

He's virtually stopped our tippy tippy in our own box, which has taken a while, but we're so much better going forward. A joy to watch. | | | |
