Still missing Larin and Downes from our starting 11 ,
this was the starting line up I was hoping for.
We controlled the game quite well from start to end, and look (increasingly) well organized.
Every aspect of our game looks very well thought through.
Our players look like thriving well, they look content, motivated and well trained, totally familiar with their roles and what is expected from them; In open play, from how we press to how we defend, with and without the ball to how we build up, do our transitions and how we attack and defend dead balls. A joy to watch quite frankly.
The Tonda effect has clearly gotten further into our players and any potential fog, clouds and hang overs from the end of (an otherwise thrilling but frustrating last season under Tonda) seem fully behind us now, I feel.
More and more we look like "the big dog" (one of Glenn de la Cours favourite lines in the TS podcasts) in our efforts to win our matches , and Tondas tactics , game management and handling injuries to key players look very good I think. While Tonda is obviously still learning and reflecting a lot over things from previous matches.
Lewis Dobbin is suddenly becoming a headache for Tonda after coming into the side with some good performances. He works hard, looks dangerous when he gets the ball, not least in transition, and copes more than ok with receiving the ball through the middle with his back against the opponents goal and with a defender breathing down his neck, keeping hold of the ball and doing something clever with the ball. He is clearly a quick player and has running capacity in abundance. I'm happy for him and the team. We don't look so sensitive to Larins absence as we all feared. Good!
Unlucky that the lines man was so surprisingly awake when he flagged the offside after Dobbins lovely goal. The decision (on Stevo) I didn't agree with personally, but it can be defended I reckon ; even though in 9 out of 10 cases the goal would have been given in the championship, and Pierce Charles would not have saved that header without Stevo potentially blocking some of his view. VAR would have given the goal, I believe. In 19 out of 20 cases.
A solid performance, where it is hard for me to pick my MOTM. I think I'll give it to Slotterbeck; with his good goal and overall classy performance. He looks like he has been with us for years. :-D .
I simply can't see that THBs departure has weakened us.

Generally some great stuff throughout. Ball movement was excellent—particularly in tight spaces, which is testament to how we've seemed to be a step quicker, especially to the ball, and much more imaginative against opposition. Having said that … you cannot switch off, mark as poorly as your opposition did just a minute prior, allow a cheap goal, and expect to challenge for the league. This should have been a clean sheet. Am i being greedy? Yes—because the way we're playing i don't think winning the league is at all out of the question, even with four missing points. |

Top class entertainment from Saints A bit surprised at how poor QPR were especially after they thumped Swansea last week The result was never in doubt after our first goal.Cam Bragg scored to top off a first class performance Probably his best to date.

Entertaining game - competitive in the first half at least where we gave them
too much of the ball, more one sided in the second half where we really looked in control. As usual, the championship is going to be highly competitive so we really need to aim for a top two finish - and right now Saints and Middlesboro look the pick of the bunch. Everyone played a part. Dobbin was lively and unlucky not to score ( I can’t believe that goal at the end of the first half was disallowed! ).Bragg and JWP were solid and organized as we were in defence. One little snip, a bit overelaborate at times in attack - better decision making needed. Final point - what is it about all these horrible away kits these days? Why not play in your classic blue and white hoops, QPR? |

The boys played with courage and determination from the get go in this difficult away match in front of more than 62.000 people in the crowd - performing so fine in heavy rain for large periods of the match.
Breathtaking tempo and special notes for especially Daniel Peretz who was absolutely fantastic in goal, but also JWP, Azaz and Lewis Dobbin deserves special mentioning as do others. Dobbin was everywhere and even made a good target player with his relatively small stature and quick feet and scored that important 3-1 goal - replacing an injured Larin - and he almost made it 4-1 with good determination and skills from a clever through ball from Finn Azaz after a fine first touch (and turn?) hitting the outside of the far post with a fine, low shot from his (weaker) left foot from the edge of the penalty area.
Very enjoyable match where we were clinical and absorbed and coped with the pressure we were up against in periods greatly.
Manning, Stepho, Bree and Slotts were superb in defense and Matsuki ran and ran and ran in midfield and helped the defense well with JWP and Jander in a team who made a fine statement today.
We have a very, very good team and a very, very good manager I'm happy and proud to say.

Really good match to watch. Was a bit worried that we often seemed to let them back in the game for extended periods. However it turned out I was worrying unnecessarily as we defended superbly.
Tonda is back to his inspirational best. Team looked confident going forward and Dobbin and Jander got vital minutes to let them play into form. Poachers goal for Dobbin should help build his confidence.
I think we have the best midfield in the championship in both ability and depth. This win was achieved without 2 of our best players being available.

Well that was probably the best rearguard teamwork I’ve witnessed in many years,we could of easily lost it but luck and determination won out for us.Complete team performance and a great result.This will make a few other teams sit up and take notice,really great performance by the lads with many more to come.Special shout out for Perez among many for man of the match but I will give my vote to him.COYR. |

Mixed report. Clear penalty was not given and we missed two sitters. At the other end, some really dozy defending - got away with it a couple of times. Thanks to Peretz we kept the clean sheet which was the main positive from this game! |

Nice clean sheet - third in a row but we couldn't take our chances. 3 of them HUGE chances, which was obviously disappointing. We put an effort in , though. That said, how about that ridiculous amount of offside decisions by that lines man. WOW.
We could have lost the game because of some pretty poor self inflicted ball losses in dangerous areas in the second half.
I thought Peretz had one world class safe after one of those ball losses, half sitting, half lying down on the goal line , stretching his right arm out to block a pretty close range shot with his right hand reflex safe. Formidable.
Before Tonda we would probably have lost this game.
He is doing something special with our team. I can just "sense" it.
Very promising young manager. Offer him a good long contract. AZAP.
Sh*tty that Larin had an injury and was forced off. Hope it's only a knock and that both him and Downes are travelling to London next saturday as match day squad members.
