Exactly my thought, he should of come and watched a few games and seen for himself the massive difference in the level of football being played after he had departed.
The club looks far much healthier and happier for next season with a progressive thinking manager at the helm, don't get me wrong I love Gareth as a person and a player but he's not accepting the reality of the situation. | | | |

Gotta be tough to take, seeing his successor turn us around and get us fighting (something which the players never truly bought in to with him) and playing decent football.
Also, the way Ainsworth started pitching us in pre match interviews as some sort of part time non-league minnow fighting against global powerhouses like West Brom (I exaggerate a little) really started winding me and probably many other fans up.
A lovely man, and a really solid, committed pro for us as a player, but a terrible manager who perhaps is in denial. John Beck football is way past its well by date. |  | | |

Genuinely don't think he said that, as he hasn't said that to people I know a lot closer to him than a random Stevenage fan. I think the Stevanage fan has probably added a few jars of mustard to something like 'the club needs a lot of work behind the scenes' which is a lot tamer than what most of us have said recently.
Can't feel anything but love for him sorry. After Marti, he's the manager I want to do the most well in this world.
As a fanbase we could do ourselves a big favour and look to next August and not back to last October. [Post edited 6 May 9:54]

Feel for Ainsworth. He was clearly out of his depth at this level . A poor appointment but not a surprising one. He was far too reverential to some of the bigger clubs and was basically saying we we should be happy to be on the same pitch .
With that attitude it was never going to work.
Even so lots of people had basically said we were never getting anything out of Leeds and Coventry.
Never saw it that way . This league is nuts and with Leeds doing their squeaky bum trick we always had a chance and we produced our best performance in years to back it up.

He somehow kept us up. Burnley was a fluke and stoke who had been awful was on the beach.
He did bring in some good players though to be fair
But the football was nothing short of awful and we now have a much better manager and we have moved on. |  |

I am sure he didn't actually say that and he didn't have the benefit of the new CEO either, who has turned out to be a revelation, like Marti. But he obviously didn't have the buy in of the players, even though he brought in some good ones. That he should take credit for but we also saw that he was very limited in how to adapt to teams at this level and Marti has come in and shown that he is different gravy. Gareth will always be a hero here and somehow he kept us up 22-23 but something wasn't right in the dressing room or on the training pitch and that seems to have been highlighted by his now very obvious dislike of Willock for some reason. |  |

I agree Antti. It's too early to be singing Nourry's praises. There may be early indications he's getting things right, but for me that's as far as it goes. He seems to have been involved in Cifuentes appointment which is a big plus but I'm not sure anyone knows just how much involvement he had. And, he wasn't appointed at QPR until two and a half months after Cifuentes came.
Unlike Cifuentes, whose impact as head coach has obviously been seen quickly, with Nourry as CEO/DOF we need to give it until this time next year before being able to judge how he's doing. |  | | |

So Les does the honourable thing and resigns, foregoing any severance package, Ainsworth continues taking a wage while taking a break from football… One nicknamed evil and blamed for the mess we’re in while the other seen as inheriting something which nobody could turn around. Marti has showed what can be achieved with this group and the recruitment wasn’t a total failure - Dickie player of year Bristol, JCS one of the standouts for us - both used as evidence last term of how poor Les was and of the poor players Ainsworth had at his disposal.

Regardless of what Ainsworth may have or may not have said, he was awful at QPR and the debacle witnessed in his 8 months in charge was symptomatic of his approach if you can call it that to managing a professional football club. The image, the stupid gimmicks wore very thin with me and more importantly what did those players who are top class athletes think looking at their manager on the touchline, think we know the answer not much as we were seen as a joke. We now have a manager who looks and acts the part of a top level professional. |  | | |

If Ainsworth had left any earlier we wouldn’t have Marti, or we might have had an expensive and even more disruptive stop gap for a few months.
We had to wait until his (Marti’s) contract was run down and affordable enough to be brought out. The cost of his compensation package was the only reason we didn’t sign him when we signed Beale.
I‘m sure this has all been established.
