Out of Contract on 09:52 - Mar 19 by TheChef | Well yeah but Wilkins by and large was fit, not suspended and effective. Colback for the most part has been none of those things. |
And Ray had A LOT more quality. Colback's never been a maestro even at his peak.

Given he's contract situation he's more like Matthew Rose at the moment
Out of Contract on 10:35 - Mar 19 with 2940 views | stantheman10 | If you were in charge of the contracts or a player whose contract is running out why would you offer or agree a contract when you don't know which division you'll be in next season? I would have thought contracts will be offered/accepted once we know we're playing Championship football next season. If we're not then I would guess they'll all be gone!

Ha! I think it's more the comparison of 35 year old central midfielders (which obviously Wilkins wins hands down).

Out of Contract on 10:51 - Mar 19 with 2865 views | Wegerles_Stairs | I agree that Jimmy is the one I'd most like to retain. Other than that, Saito. Cook and Frey are really dependent on how high their wages are. I do like Frey but we need a more mobile striker as our number nine, so we can't be paying exorbitant wages for a sub. Ditto, Cook, who is a fantastic player to have round the club but we can't be paying silly money for a 34-year-old who will only be losing pace and fitness.
Out of Contract on 07:56 - Apr 7 with 2211 views | Gloucs_R | I've changed my mind. Frey should be released too now. Too many injuries I'm afraid. Also, really not sure about Fox even being a back up. At least the keeper options are good for next season!!

Out of Contract on 16:21 - Mar 18 by Beckenhamhoop | I’m convinced Dunne will be here next year. He’s clearly settled in Chiswick and appears to genuinely like playing for the club where he is a ‘first on the team sheet type’. Who wants to live in and sit on the bench in Sheffield for example? So easy to say this but so much more difficult to get players who are better and fitter and want to come to QPR.

You're going to need fundamental religious faith if you believe we can replace 9 members of the first team squad with better players, on our budget.

WLS said that he was about to, hasn't been officially confirmed yet. WLS don't get many of these things wrong.
Out of Contract on 09:54 - Apr 20 with 612 views | gazza1 | As usual many posters wanting Colback out, etc, etc..... Well yesterday, at Preston, we were by far better than them and comfortably good all around. But to win matches you need goalscorers, which we had yesterday, but it is most important was to win midfield and Jack Colback & Varane done that very well. No sign of Jack Colback 'not having legs' from what I saw but, hey, posters please make the stories up, it's fine, MC picks the players who want to win and Colback is one of those players he picks for very clear reasons. May be here next season, may not, depends on his money demands and if he wants to stay here, fortunately posters on this MB will have zero input!!! PS - Whilst mentioning Wilkins, Have a look how old Steve Gerard was captaining Liverpool. [Post edited 20 Apr 9:57]

In the 2nd half, that was the best midfield performance I have seen from us this season Those 2 (Colback & Varane) were absolutely bossing it and Preston just could not get the ball past the half way line without resorting to hoofing it Fundamental to us getting back into the match

I don't think it is necessarily signing 9 better players. The key is signing 9 players who can actually stay fit and be available for 40 games. Having a small budget naturally means having a small squad, so we need robust players. Looking at that 9 and Frey, Anderson, and Colback have spent the majority injured, we can't afford to carry people.

I personally wouldnt give him another contract. I dont think he will be able to keep up with the Championship next season and he has been injured a lot this season. What I would love to see is a younger version of him. A real little shit of a player who gets in the Ref's ear and breaks up play. Jack is 36 in October. However, Colback has been very good, when available.

This. We should really let Frey go as well; however, getting forwards who can link play and also score is rare. So, that is why we need to keep him, as these players usually cost £5m. Unless Celar or a new player comes in who does that, then we should keep Frey, as we don't know the risks without him. Andersen and Colback can be replaced. For example, Andersen can be replaced with Saito and Colback with Hayden. Colback is a yard off the pace and Marti was very angry with him for giving away the pen against Stoke. So, yes, he is slowing down. Andersen does not have the legs to get back now. He looks good coming on as a sub, but as we have seen, helping out the fullbacks, he does not always get back in time. And we have Madsen to play in the middle if we move Andersen there. When they have both started together, we became really exposed. Marti has avoided this since, that won't happen again. If Paal wants to stay, that's useful, not great, but useful, as otherwise we have to go out and find another LB, Dale can play there, but will he? If he can, that's very useful as Larkeche can be the backup for Vale. Dunne there is probably zero chance, as Wilder has the hots for him. He can get bigger money at a more successful club, he's off. Cook should be given a 1-year deal, as while he's been injured, we still need him, since we only have Morrison, who is the least injured out of all of them. JCS we should pretend does not exist. Edwards has shown we need another CB. Fox is a tough one. Hes useful as a LB or CB, but once again injured a lot. If he wants to stay on a massively reduced contract, then I think it's worth it only if we get another CB and LB in and then Fox is the cover. Relying on Fox as the starter would be a massive mistake. He probably won't accept such a lamo deal and so he's off like Barbet. So, that's Andersen, Fox, Colback, Dunne and Paal who will leave. Santos will also clearly leave as well. Santos is done. From this we can deduce, QPR need two CB's. Then of course the mythical center forward to hold up play as we missed that when Frey was out and Celar cannot do it. Then there is the RB position which without Dunne is woefully under supported. We are lucky Dunne was fit for most of the season otherwise it could be Ashby on loan starting all those games ... gulp! Then for the loans we need a CB to replace Edwards as the others are always injured and one LW to replace Yang/Saito. Which could be Saito himself. And a backup RB instead of Ashby, who we won't sign. Too early for Esquerdinha? So, we need a CB, CB, RB, RB, LW and CF. If we can get Fox on reduced wages, this means we can use him as double cover (CB & LB) and this reduces the need to five players. CB, RB, RB, LW and CF. But worst case is Possibly 6 players! So, 6 out with Santos and 6 in. Saito in as LW cover for Chair, can one of the yoof players step up at RB? Possibly too early to say. We need a proper first-team RB anyway. Now for a CB we possibly already did sign or we didn't (who knows this is QPR) is Timothy Akindilen. Plays on the left side as well. Source: https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/deal-agreed-but-qpr-might-have-to-wait-for-s But that says he's Dev squad only so, we still need another CB. 6 players in before any loans I would say. If the summer recruitment is good and the players who stay can stay fit, I feel we have a good squad for next season. All big ifs though.
