In Chez Peabody Norf Kenzington. It’s a Ozcar winner
Was at that match as a seven year old clinging onto the perimeter wall in the paddock between the School End and the players tunnel. Won 2-0 and it may have been the promotion clincher. Fulham played in yellow shirts and Alan Mullery was playing for them. Happy days and a great team was blooming. Great film.
Lovely stuff, and great to see a bog roll being thrown when we scored.
I used to catch a 72 bus to games from Roehampton and the amount of spare ticket rolls that used to go missing while the conductor was upstairs was shocking.

Yep, I used to 'collect' bus ticket rolls from Kensal Rise bus depot. They conveniently popped into your pocket before a game to use in a moment of excitement.
Marvellous film. The way Phil Parks took goal kicks comes flooding back.Terry Mancini and Venables .Then close up of Bowles and Givens.First went about then .First team I remember.I believe Fulham missed promotion on goal difference?….

Might even have been goal average that long ago.
My second game, taken by my future ex-uncle Paddy, though I had got glasses since the first and could actually see the ball. We were in the School End, and me and my brother went down the front and made monkey noises at Peter Mellor, Fulham’s peroxide blonde goalkeeper, because we thought he looked like a gorilla. Wot larks!
I was recovering from an injury but was due to play that day being at we were down to a bare eleven (plus the manager).
At 2.00pm I'm in the changing room in Chesham when an unexpected peron arrives . The next words I hear were what I wanted "Go on Terry, you've got time to get to Rangers".
I'm just looking at my QPR V Fulham programme for Tuesday 25th April 1972 K.O. 7.30 PM.
Pretty sure It was a 0-0, Fulham's Number 6 was Jimmy Dunne, our Manager was Gordon Jago and our coach was Bobby Campbell, we were at the time Fourth In the league and Fulham were second from bottom.
Difficult for me to get to evening games after working (Three hour round journey) missed a few mid-week kick offs back then but from May 1972 we were on strike at work for about Ten weeks just as the bloody season was ending.
Phil Parkes In goal, Dave Clement right back and Ian Gillard left back, they don't make them like that anymore.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.
stood in the loft for that one, little fulham mob to our right, good natured, in the days when other firms used to try take ends...ours was the loft. atmosphere was great and as a 15 year old games like these, london derbies, were a must to attend....looking there at don givens etc brings back so many great memories, so good to have been alive 60'and 70's including the music....

this is what chris hatton the dj used to put on at half time 69/70 and 71/72 about...
I may be wrong but I think this was penultimate game, promotion assured but we were pipped by Burnley for top spot by one point. In the earlier away fixture Paul Went broke Martyn Busbys leg in several places and we went out and bought Dave Thomas I was at both games. Just before this last home game we bought Frank McLintock from Arsenal but Gordon Jago said he would not play until the following season in the First Division. The last game was away to Sunderland. Was that were Tony Hazel hit the FA Cup but Stan Bowles got the blame?

judging by the crowd invading the pitch, your right.

I can't remember that we signed Frank McLintock as early as that, but I do recall him saying that he was at Sunderland watching the last match.
Promotion had been assured at either Cardiff or Millwall. Or possibly between the two fixtures due to other clubs' results. That "challenge" by Went is definitely the worst I've seen.
It was rather good supporting Rangers at that time!
