Being not familiar with them or their body of work I was tempted to Google.

Apparently they considered their sound as ideal music for f***ing, fighting and smoking cigars...disturbing but strangely alluring.

I'm the kind of guy who can. In fact, I'll be out in the back garden doing exactly that very soon.

Sol Yurick used his experiences as a social worker in New York to write his first novel, which the film, The Warriors. was based on. Unfortunately, his subsequent novels failed to reach the same heights. The same happened to Herman Raucher, the author of Summer of '42. That semi-autobiographical novel was the best he had in him.

Richard Price has had more long-term success with Clockers and The Wanderers as well as film scripts like Sea of Love. His novel, Clockers, is utterly brilliant and far better than Spike Lee's film version.

I've never understood why Peter Blauner's Slow Motion Riot hasn't been made into a film. As New York crime novels go, it's one of the best.

I seem to remember New York having a big trouble with crime until a certain Mayor put a stop to it.
The film wouldn’t have encourage you to take the train at night.

I was in New York in the early 90s, which is when a lot of the famous New York crime films were made, and it wasn't too bad then - I felt quite safe walking around, although you could see all the burnt out houses in Harlem. The worst that happened was when The World Trade Center was bombed, the first time, in 1993, as I was walking to it. I was pretty close.

ā€œWarriors, come out to playā€
Yes it is a bit of a cult film, like Clockwork Orange.
Blues Brothers was too

We could all easily live there, but we wouldn't be able to afford to live in the areas that we usually stay in when we visit for a few days.

Yes I'd love to live in Manhattan, but I doubt I would be able to afford the rent.

Not so sure about that.
If I had a choice of Manhattan or Waikiki, Honolulu, then I’d be sipping Pina colada’s on the beach.
Each to their own though.

I love that film. It’s absolute shit but you can’t take your eyes off it.

You cannot reason a person out of something they were not reasoned into.

I’ve read the novel but it’s not great.

You’re better off just watching the film.

Ideal music for fishing? Who’d of thought..?!

I’ve done the NY marathon a few times wearing a Saints top. Got 5 cheers for every fish fooker in the crowd giving abuse.

Nice one..creative interpretation of asterisks.

As for marathons, Spencer Davis would say, "Keep on Running".

Do you live in NY ?. Or just fly out for the marathon?.
Didn’t realise there were skate fans ā€œover thereā€.
Good for you though. UTS

That takes me back to revising for my GCSE's in 1991 and having this lp on a cassette. A mixture of Mark Goodier's evening session, PWEI, Intastella and World Of Twist, money was tight in those days and it was a carefully considered purchase after reading the reviews in NME or Select

Used to listen to both the This Is The Hour.... and Cure For Sanity lp's a lot, still have both on vinyl

Fail we may, sail we must

I am in NYC quite often, but am UK based and you can pay to get in the Marathon. I think something like 5% of participants are Brits - which includes some of the Blue Few. As I said, when I’ve done it there were more Saints than Skates and it’s quite surreal to be running through Harlem exchanging insults with one of the fishy few!
