I believe it will get built. Hard to see it not happening when you get to this stage :
https://www.london.gov.uk/priorities/planning/strategic-planning-applications/ma

Plenty of projects have planning permission that have never and will never be built. There are whole city centres scarred by brownfield sites where developers have changed their mind, look at Bradford or Nottingham and see what Westfield have done there.

Before a shovel goes into the ground at Warren Farm money has to be set aside for its construction, where a principal contractor will require a commitment before starting work. Where does this fit in with relegation, FFP, Tony and Co writing off £180m etc etc? Manage your expectations eh.

"Harlington looking good" Tony tweeted the other day. What does that mean? Which part of Harlington is he looking at? My grandmas alotment, the A4 Bath Road, McDonalds, which part exactly?

Or is he being cryptic and actually saying "prepare for me to decide we don't need Warren Farm after all". Cynical I may be but what else do we have to go on?

Some meaning of what he says in his tweets might get lost in translation eh!

Not necessarily translation, but certainly context (big problem with Twitter is context) and that is something we see everywhere in life be it politics or newspapers where a quote can be easily taken out of context to fit the writer / readers grand narrative .

And no I suspect they did not have a crystal ball about the training ground and the tenacity of the objections. And yes guilty as charged over the Old Oak new ground in a couple of years.

Things change, if you've ever run anything or managed any kind of project big or small you know you have to set out a detailed plan at the beginning and you know the chance that everything going according to the plan is about zero and it will often be constantly fluid

Fernandes is quick to talk about all the things that he knows supporters want to hear, to talk about youth, training grounds, stadiums, etc. He says these things because it means everyone loves him and sings his name. Then when he doesn’t deliver in the kind of time frame HE has suggested — it’s our fault for having expectations too high.

It started from day one with the money off that turned out to be club vouchers and has continued with everything else that’s been promised and not delivered. I honestly couldn’t give a flying fck about a new stadium for example, but don't throw out soundbites to gain popularity and then look at other people as being unreasonable when they ask questions.

And therefore you play it nice and calm and low key, talk about future aspirations and hopes. You don't say "we'll be in our training ground for 2015/16" for instance, or "we'll be in our new stadium for 2018" for instance. And you especially don't say those things and then when they don't happen tell people they need to manage their expectations. Our expectations are just fine mate, it's yours that seem to be all over the place.

Maybe we should just put up some hay bales and tarpaulin, build the training ground anyway and hope no one notices like the bloke on the news recently?

Hear, hear! I revised my expectations back in May (crikey - not 6 months ago) based on this by Dominic Fifield in The Graun:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/18/qpr-tony-fernandes-relegation-ch

Including following direct quotes from TF:

“We’ve always been chasing and desperate to get back up, but this time we will just stick to our guns and get players who have longer-term vision,” said Fernandes, who appointed Les Ferdinand as director of football in February to oversee a more long-term strategy. “We’ll see how it goes from there. We’re feeling good, actually. It’s strange. We feel like after four years we are finally in the groove.

“Last time we went down I was a lot more tense about it. I was worried about a lot of things. And yet we still got through it, we got back up. This time we go down in a much stronger position, with a better structure in place and better solutions to pursue with what we want to do in the long term.”

“Apart from the legacy players — and most of their contracts have finished — every player has relegation clauses,” said Fernandes. “We’re wiser every time. We are in a much better position. The doom and gloom that everyone has been predicting is not that great [within the club].”

All seemed fairly reasonable given the circumstances and more or less in tune with my own views of this football club. Guess I should have known an outbreak of common sense wouldn't last.

Ramsey wasn't consolidating, he was sending out a team to try and win every week - but just failing to do so.

If he was consolidating, he'd have been playing a mixture of younger and older players, trying to build the core of a team that could be added to next season/January.

Instead he played Henry, Green, Hoillett, Konchesky, Sandro etc etc.

2 wins in 2 months was verging on relegation form though - so i'd say that Ramsey was failing at both stated objectives.

People will claim that this was due to pressure from above but that is a smokescreen. The change in expectations occurred on October the 16th. At no point this season did Ramsey try to consolidate. My theory is that it's simply because he couldn't coach a team. Much easier to just Harry Redknapp it and send out 'good players' who know what they're doing already.

Ha ha! That article....

This 'we've learned our lessons' rhetoric must have been spouted 3-4 times by Fernandes. It's boring and obviously not true.

Fine, ok, yeh, you've made that point. Move beyond it and look forward - what are the expectations of the next manager? Do we (the fans) actually know? Does Fernandes and the board know?

The betting field for our manager sums it all up. There are experienced, inexperienced managers on there, lower league, Premier League, coaches and money spenders, promotion specialists and consolidators, long and short terms Nobody fcking knows what we're doing.

Surely that point means that we can't write off the consolidation plan as unworkable at our club because we haven't actually got any evidence of us attempting it. I'm more than up for that especially now that it's the only realistic goal available to us.

So is that what we're going to attempt? Nobody knows. Fernandes has made several completely contradictory statements over the past six months. Not sure how you can hire a manager like this, and I'm absolutely sure you can't tell the supporters to manage their expectations while you're ramping them up and down yourself all the time.

Basically, what Simmo said above...

It's all quite comical really. A week ago Ramsey was sacked for not living up to the boards expectations and a few days later it's the fans who expect too much.

So will Tony now sack the fans then? Matches behind closed doors. Come back only if you expect no more than a 4-0 defeat to local rivals.

This is from only a few months back and is obviously bullshit, cringeworthy to be honest.

Still wondering what Fernandes' "Harlington looking good" tweet from a few days ago actually means, maybe I'm missing the context with that one too.

I'm managing my expectations quite well.
Now TF shut the fack up and manage yours.
Stop talking the talk and start walking the walk.
Start laying out plans for things like new manager, promotion, debt, Warren Farm, new stadiums etc in plain bloody english. With timetables if appropriate or a solid running commentary on where the club stands on these issues not shitter sound bites of PR puss.
On field results are important but off field far more so because if you don't get those right on field won't matter. For example Plain english about the debt, won't like waking up one morning and finding my club bankrupt, kaput. Thus how does that affect building Warren Farm or is that still a rabbit out of a hat.
I'm a member of the club so tell me why I should keep putting money in and following blindly if you can't manage or want to change your great expectations with every second snap chat.

Oh in case you were wondering my expectations is to get back to the premier league sooner rather than later but with a well balanced club that has either been built or has concrete foundations in place. Is that transparent enough you because you ain't so sort it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe the sun was out, & the birds were singing ?

I see the appointment of Lee Hoos as a positive, & from his comments he obviously believes Warren Farm is a priority.
