| Reading v Swansea City : Sky Bet Championship 21/22 MATCHDAY THREAD on 17:00 - Apr 18 by Brynmill_Jack | Serious questions have to be asked of the entire defence. Fisher hasn’t showed to be anywhere near superior to Hamer. A waste of money. |
Yes he has BJ, better with his feet passing out which is what we get as a upgrade but lose out in the air.

Took pride to score 4 goals ( and TBH Obafemi could have had a hat trick) First time back and here you are with the negativity. It's down to the team when they are 4-1 up to keep that lead. Any side throws that lead away needs to look at themselves. Of course you think it is all down to Martin

Pato hasn't played that well again today for me at least. [Post edited 18 Apr 2022 18:07]

Sorry BJ posted before i finished, i think our defence is the way its set up is liable to be got at really easily. Any midfielder can cause carnage without looking up by hit the diagonal in behind first time. Someone like say Shelvey would ruin us. The thing is to find a pacy three ball playing defenders is impossible, i cannot see us being defensively sound with Kyle as CH and Ben and A.N other alongside as good a footballer Kyle is so do we put Downes in there as i think he could play there and cause a lot of damage coming out or persevere with Ben?

Possession football has to be the way but also required is physicality and application when under stress. On the bench there were no defenders. Bennett, Burns not picked Bidwell released Cooper on loan injured. Manning was on the bench but does not add size or strength for the aerial battle that was always coming. from Joao and co. Bring Bennett / Burns on for the last crazy 10, surely? 6ft 4i n + and ready to answer all the physical questions. What else does the losing home team have left in their locker. I am not sure why Burns is at Swansea. [Post edited 18 Apr 2022 17:40]

The players are going by the script, that’s the problem. When in a lead and closing out a game, there must be a different plan that doesn’t involve our suicidal football. I just think Martin says play it the same way for 90+ and damn the consequences. That can’t work enough times to make us serious contenders. It’s training ground stuff.

Surely the team should have played out the last few minutes on the halfway line and beyond ? Professional players shouldn't have to be told how to run down the clock

Gutted about the result, but 4 goals away from home is not to be sniffed at, just need a bit more maturity and ruthlessness in our play. Oh and drop the bloody keeper

He is correct though if you hang onto the ball they cant score, problem is teams have nothing to lose and throw everything at it. I would prefer it if there was a formation change and not three at the back which is asking for trouble.

You’d think so but I’m not sure that’s Martin’s philosophy. Without being the proverbial fly on the dressing room wall we’ll probably never know, though he may hint at things in the presser. It’s not just about what they do with the ball, it’s also about formation and I didn’t see anything change at 3-4. That said, my stream booted me out on too many occasions. There needs to be set ups for different scenarios. I remember Rodgers used to say how they practiced playing 10 v 11 in training should a player get sent off. We need drills (horrible word) to be comfortable in any scenario.

We more or less did, I thought we'd weathered the storm. The only time they got near our box in the last 7/8mins was the lump forward that lead to their equaliser [Post edited 18 Apr 2022 18:06]

Has we all know a keepers first job to stop the ball hitting the back of the net and for me that starts with a keeper commanding his area, 2 points dropped today when the 3 pts were in the bag, someone needs nailing to the door for losing a 3 goal lead.

Not sure about him making negative decisions. Obafemi had two chances to score. Also he didn't instruct the players and Fisher to defend so woefully. Presumably had we gone on to win, that would have been all down to Martin as well then ? Nothing to do with brilliant individual goals by Piroe and Wolf, and a great team goal finished by Obafemi ?

| Reading v Swansea City : Sky Bet Championship 21/22 MATCHDAY THREAD on 18:16 - Apr 18 with 725 views | onehunglow | Friends/followers. It's really quite simple and I don't want to repeat myself but we are where we are. We have no plan,no transition,no idea really. We do not have a goalkeeper.Somebody has taken Fishers's identity and is an imposter. Why would any manager pay real money for that whom stood between the post today and last Saturday to effectivelty give the game away. It's not all Fisher's fault though his defenders are clearly terrified of him .The clean sheets he was disgracefully credited with were down to his defenders not him. It is past a joke now but the fact he remains undroppable is real primary evidence of what is wrong. Ince is a hard nosed man and would have scented a way back. Team could be 10-0 down against us and we would still be vulnerable. This has been a season of waste ;of opportunity of talent ,of money ,of loans . It is simply disgusting and we have had our expectations lowered to fit this horror show. Hope Ive stuck to the site guidelines in writing this | |

Fisher doesn't inspire confidence as a keeper. Not commanding enough and not a good enough shot stopper

Every team needs a spine. We do not have one We do not have an inspirational captain and we do not have the basic ingredient of a competent keeper. Fisher is as spineless as he is incompetent. He is with us for the length of his contract too as nobody will buy him. They are not that dumb.
