I was struggling to cope with losing my mum when a conversation with my cousin altered my perspective. As a child she was put into care. Today, she has no relationship with her biological parents. She told me that when her folks pass she probably won't even know, let alone care. However, she would trade places with me in a heartbeat as my feelings of loss highlight the depth of relationship I had with my mother.
