| New Players : Dont knock him until he has had a go 09:37 - Feb 3 with 4101 views | andoverpierre | Mickey Evans came here in 97 for 650k from Plymouth and everyone laughed he scored 4 goals in the prem that kept us up and we sold for 750k 6months later to WBA. Richard Dryden came here £150k in 96 and everyone laughed he marked vialli out of the game in his first game and ended up with a certain Sky (Rodney marsh) having to eat his hat at the end of the season , yes and we stayed up that season so give these guys a chance they may surprise you more than you think . | | | | |

Surely we can’t all be wrong ? From what I see and most of us see all our keepers make mistakes including Peretz but given more game time I’m sure he’ll improve and those saves at Stoke were outstanding. I think Peretz will also be good at organising his defence as he is more vocal . |
Where Nicks concerned, i think we will have to file Perezt in the Dan Harding draw.

Yes I was rather childish not to attend the Dan Harding statue unveiling at St Mary's

This reminds me. What is your current slant on the ball boys? I seem to recall a less than favourable critique of their performance a month or two back from your good self....

Peretz’s 2 saves at Stoke were beyond Bazunu’s ability, he’s nowhere near athletic enough to pull those off, particularly the low one Pertetz touched onto the post- no chance Bazunu saves that, the ball would’ve been past him before he got near it, too flat footed. Like others I find your continual defence of Bazunu baffling. BTW I am also reserving judgement on Peretz, and he certainly hasn’t convinced on crosses under the bar. However he’s clearly a far more able keeper in terms of athleticism and shot saving ability. |
Baz was good at making simple saves look difficult. First impressions of Peretz is that he makes difficult saves look easy. Let's get real about this, he's probably not perfect but there's not many keepers that are, We're a middle of the table club in the Championship we're not in a position to attract top quality players.

Has a reasonable touch and can hold the ball up Can head the ball Doesn't miss too many sitters I'd settle for that.

Steady on Dirk. It was a cracking header but he couldn’t trap a bag of cement. Maybe that was rustiness

I hope I am entirely wrong re my initial assessment. Really good goal so well done for that. Looked like he had tidy feet during one piece of play in the corner near the end of the game. He doesnt seem fit but that can be improved upon but first impression he is not particularly mobile. He's not a leaper as he's a bit of a unit. All that said this was his first appearance and already he has made more of a contribution than our expensive USA born striker!!

He also has a World Cup place to play for and not that many games left to make a good impression. As the Sky commentator said today, Canada will play their group games in Toronto and Vancouver so how memorable would those occasions be for the players that make the team. That is a great incentive for him to stay fit and make a good impression between now and the end of the season.
