| Constant Calls for Changing Managers ad Infinitum 11:01 - Feb 25 with 2362 views | numptydumpty | I think we should give Stephan a few seasons here, instead of a few more months maximum. Before i get accused of accepting mediocrity and accepting of 16th forevermore. I am not. I just think we have to give at least one of our many managerial selections, time to work here over a period of time where they can make an impact. I just think giving a manager a few seasons to get in as many players, he also likes - appreciate some will be of the clubs choosing and working with all at QPR and how we currently operate and giving a manager time. Tbh, if you keeping getting rid of the managers after a few bad games, that would be like accepting 16th as the dream, because thats whats happened here for years. We beat the league leaders not so long ago and comprehensively beat the fourth team away from home, game before last. We can bounce back from this defeat. We played really well and won 3 - 1 against Charlton in the game following the 7 - 1 reverse against Coventry. Immediate knee jerk reactions and sacking managers instantly, well they have all worked out so well. Give at least one of these guys a real and proper crack. Who knows if it will work but i think a change of approach is required now Some were advocating Holloways time here. Yes he got us promoted from a lower quality league, but that was after a relegation. We stuck with a manager then for five seasons and things improved. If you get rid of Stephan, you are getting a similar standard or worse candidate to have four months to a year to get it right and three consecutive defeats and we get rid and start the whole sorry merry go round agaim. Lets try a different way and see where this takes us. The way we chop and change so often is getting us nowhere and never will. [Post edited 25 Feb 11:07]

If you're being told who to play in goal, who to play in the League Cup and who is fit (or rather not fit) to play, it doesn't really matter who's in charge.
| Constant Calls for Changing Managers ad Infinitum on 11:11 - Feb 25 with 1838 views | Malintabuk | I think he is pretty secure as of today....and the injuries will be the deciding factor in keeping him He is Nourry's man and Nourry is not going to sack him ........ yet Think the bigger question is how much of this disaster is down to him. If he is a factor in it, then he really does deserve to go along with the non-performance team, no way you can label them performance!! No if he as very little control over performance... then he might want to walk.... because if he isn't involved in the decision making, it must be pretty frustrating for him. For now unless there is a major meltdown he will stay | | | |

The past three years we've been begging for the team to not fall into huge slumps whenever they lose matches, leading to multiple relegation battles. Now that we're incredibly inconsistent and you don't know what to expect each week, we're complaining also - unfortunately this is what mid table is like, until we're ready for playoff form this is what it's going to be like.. Controversial, but I prefer this to 17 games without a win.

My own view is that he doesn't get the players to galvanise into playing good football on a consistent enough basis and that he isn't very good at taking the bull by the horns and setting us up to get on top in games. I'm not seeing that he's formatting us to do better than dour 0-0's away from home and giving it a go at home but often being found out. I believe there are much more innovative, inspirational managers out there who would be better for us.

Haven’t looked at the stats but would suggest his home record is the best it’s been for a good number of seasons: we’ve even scored lots of goals at the Loft end which was a major problem for a long time. He’s doing a decent job with a ridiculous injury situation which would screw any manager/head coach over. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

have u watched a lot of games away from home ? i belive he even said it in his post match intervirw last night we tried to contain them in the first half , actually would have been the correct idea if he had indeed set us up to try and contain them and , keep it level till the second half , not set us up the same ways he does every away game with usually the same result , no shots on target once again think we had one all game in fact.

| Constant Calls for Changing Managers ad Infinitum on 14:35 - Feb 25 with 1341 views | Logman | We were far too deep from the outset. Why not start high from the kick-off, and then retreat if you have to because it is breaking down ? Not immediately go deep making it so much easier for them and start playing football when we are one down. Disappointing tactics. But not for the first time. | | | |
| Constant Calls for Changing Managers ad Infinitum on 14:42 - Feb 25 with 1321 views | SW_Ranger | If we’re a 16th place team squad then surely you would have a 16th place manager. I personally think JS is better than that, so we should keep him and give him time. I’m in your corner numpty let’s stick with him and give him a proper multi-season run at it (with a fit squad too). Now … talk about the fitness and player performance director and that’s a different topic! He’s had his run! | | | |

Start the season: "game model" template Post-Coventry: rapid transition, use Burrell's pace to stretch defences, high press Post-Burrell injury: Kone up top, less pace, more hold up play Post-Madsen injury: ??? Ronnie to CM? Vale to CM?

I agree. There have been several games, or halves of games, that have been seriously unacceptable this season. JS looks far too comfy for me in the role, provides zero insights into games he mismanages, and has just got on record to say staying up is our first objective. I'm coming round to the view that he belongs halfway down the French league, not in a Championship team that has any aspirations to bettering itself.

| Constant Calls for Changing Managers ad Infinitum on 16:20 - Feb 25 with 1051 views | sprocket | I'd be surprised to see JS last past next season, possibly gone before next season starts in fact. I'm impressed by him but I suspect he will be tempted back to France sooner or later. We are 3-4 good top championship level players away from making a real go of this division and last night proved it to me. We have injury issues for sure that need to be addressed but player recruitment top priority. Would really like to think we can keep hold of JS but his ambition will need to be backed by CEO/owners. | | | |

How, exactly, would you set the team up minus 5 or 6 attacking players? It's very easy for people on here to criticise and say JS is rubbish, but I have yet to read a single suggestion from anyone as to how he should be doing better. And I'd love anybody on here to name a single coach who is better, available and wants to join us. I imagine the list will be extremely short.

| Constant Calls for Changing Managers ad Infinitum on 19:07 - Feb 25 with 799 views | DylanP | Agree 100% with the OP. Stability breeds competence and consistency. Instability breeds inconsistency. Managers need 2-3 years to bed in and build a system. Not 2-3 months. Everyone knows that Ferguson had 6 bad years at Man United before he went on to make them the best team in the world. Constant chopping and changing is the road to ruin. You just end up with overlapping systems and a group of players who don't quite fit in any of them. | |

No, Brian. I’ve been on the road in Ireland - can’t believe we didn’t bump into ourselves. Injury/fitness/here we go again stuff - all concerns that are absolutely pertinent.

There was a few of the usual suspects suggesting Stephan should not be in charge. To me, he is a decent manager, who has managed to keep us getting some results with a massively weakened squad because of so many long term injuries. i was just saying Brian, i think we should give him time here, as keep getting rid of manager after manager has got us nowhere. Point was making, was he is halfway decent. Lets see how he goes with more time to build. if we got rid after say losing the next three, whats the point. We will just get another manager of similar or lesser pedigree... But if we lose four nil at home on Saturday, the natives will be out for blood, for sure....

Ok, thanks Numpty. Just wondering. I'm with you, by the way. I think he's doing as well as almost anyone could in the circumstances. There are bigger problems that have to be addressed first.
