When I saw the line up I did have concerns about where are the goals coming from, but they came 4 times and we took our chances when they appeared. The side looks good at the moment and play some great stuff at times. Gutted we didn’t keep a clean sheet, but if that is all I am disappointed with tonight, then let it be. Adamson is getting better every week and when you look around the youngster that have come through do not look out of place at this level. Madsen seems to have an extra yard if pace about him too. Hard to choose a MOM as it could have been one of many, but yet again Ronnie was excellent. Come on your R’s

No way would Derby have been expecting Lloyd to be wide left. No way would have west ham expected us to be playing a hybrid 5-4-1 / 5-2-3 / 4-3-3 system. Every game we take the opposition by surprise. I'm struggling to think of a more creative tactical manager we've had. It must be a nightmare to prepare for

Agreed, we should have beaten Bolton and Charlton, played better in both of those games. But getting the result yesterday not playing as well as we have, is a huge positive. And let’s not forget the players missing, arguably starters when fit.

Scoring the first goal relatively early also helps.

| Derby Reflection on 16:25 - Oct 15 with 291 views | ViewFrom165 | Glad we finally done what we've been threatening to do a few times this season and gave someone a good hiding. Had a hunch with some of the high-scoring games on Tuesday night that we would do it last night, convinced it would have been more as well if we didn't go down to 10. We've definitely played better in 2 or 3 games this season where we've completely dominated possession (Charlton) or created an abundance of chances (Bolton) and only came away with a point. I don't think last night was a culmination of both of those (which I'm certain we will see a few times this season), I just think we won that game by simply being organised and efficient collectively and didn't have to get out of 2nd gear. Everyone played their part in the win rather than one or two outstanding performers getting us over the line which we've had to rely on a lot in previous seasons. If pushed to single players out Edwards (my MOM), Madsen, Charles and Kemper set the standard, also pleased that Vale and Lloyd are off the mark. Negatives were obviously Mbengue, love his personality and what he brings to the Squad. Hoping it's an Esquerdinha against Oxford type injury, but it didn't look good. The Knee he was holding had some heavy strapping around it so I wonder if there was already a weakness there. That leads in to questions about our Substitutions. They seem to result in a drop in performance rather than a boost at the moment. I don't think Stephan's decisions are completely wrong personnel wise, but is he being a bit too hasty with the triple subs when a lot of them are still trying to build their fitness? And are we just really unlucky with the injuries or are the players going down being rushed back? That's two games in a row we've finished the game with 10 men and subs getting injured, it happened a few times last season as well. Back to positive, it's such a breath of fresh air to feel like we have the buy in from every player and all the Coaches now, I can't remember a 10 game period where our application has been as high and consistent, and we've shown up in every game. Stephan's really driving those standards, credit to everyone and long may it continue! [Post edited 15 Oct 16:30]

September 2020, Home to Forest & Away to Coventry. Dykes scored pens in both games

Derby looked a team beaten from the first whistle, appreciate they have loads of injuries, but god knows what they were trying to do against us. Madsen and Kamara dominated the midfield. Smyth is on fire at the moment getting splinters on the bench with Northern Ireland seems to have done wonders. I thought Kolli led the line really well and Alfie was a menace as a wide forward. Delighted for him. Vale scored a good goal but we are still seeing 4/10 Harvey rather than 8/10 Harvey. Back 5 were all excellent, great that Kemper already has an assist and Adamson looks every bit the championship full back this season. Kemper v Cirkin for left back is going to be an interesting competition In a 4-1 win Ronnie was MOTM again for me. Absolutely brilliant at the back and that pass for Poku's miss was world class. Kone and Varane continue to disappoint and look miles off it. Even prior to the injury we were a lot poorer when they came on. Gotta feel for Mbengue got his studs caught in the turf as he turned, right in front of us in W and I can't remember hearing a player screaming like that before. Almost certainly ACL. Medical team and stretcher was a shambles though so much so that Jimmy went and grabbed the splints and sprinted on with them. Director of performance needs to be reviewing that. Good job we do have 3 right backs this season and might need another. [Post edited 14 Oct 23:37]

Agree with most of that and not a fan of either Kone or Varane. I do disagree with the contribution of Varane however. I thought he got himself involved in the game and made quite a few forward progressions, which is unusual for him. I suspect they are working on him in training as he clearly needs to understand the approach he needs to take to get in this side. I think he might start to get a few more opportunities as the season progresses. It’s up to him to make the most them if he wants a future at QPR. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Kone continues to absolutely miles off it, assume he is now fully fit so even more odd that he really struggled again, I can’t see him making much of an impact any time soon unfortunately so really do need Burrell back quickly.
