Gaffer on today's draw 16:36 - Mar 15 with 2546 viewsbosh67

I think Marti is a bit generous to Koki on the red. Sadly it was and Koki knew it was the moment he landed it. Shame as I really like him but that could be a 3 game ban sadly. At least Dembele is back.

Otherwise, I think he was disappointed we couldn't hold on to win it but also but more pleased with a team putting in a shift at last and also with so many injuries. 2 weeks to get some of this team back!

Could be a very useful point.

Never knowingly right.

Top man. He managed it well today. You could see that he had done his homework, getting us organised and making sure we got the challenges in when Leeds had the ball and attacking their back four including the slightly dodgy captain through Frey, Saito and Smyth,

He was possibly a bit economic with the truth in saying that Saito's red card was harsh. But by the same token he reined it in a bit saying Frey played 'pretty well'. I thought Frey was outstanding.

Frey outstanding, really? won maybe 1 or 2 headers, 1 decent run maybe, I've seen walking footballers lead the press with more pace,

We just cannot hold the ball in the final third and but for a great rear guard action today we'd be 5 defeats on the bounce,

Edwards great change today & we're another defeat or two from moving Dunne upfront for me.

Correct! Either Marti's got an incredibly low bar for Frey, or he's desperate to keep him onside (metaphorically speaking). He was like playing with 10 men today.

Frey is not fit but stepping up to try and do a shift. If any of our other strikers were fit he wouldn't actually be ready top play, but needs must and we have to credit him for actually putting himself forward to play, because he's not ready.

Never knowingly right.

True, he didn't look match-fit today, and didn't win much as a result. But he was a hard mark, and that's the first thing you ask of any forward. Impressed with his attitude.

I'd disagree on that one Brian thought his workrate & attitude was poor today & saw Marti properly giving it to him at one point which I haven't seen Marti do before.

This is the epitome of football being about opinions, I thought Frey worked so, so hard today, sans service and caused some problems... no issue with anyone today, as they all worked hard

Frey was working so hard he got booked for nearly chopping the ref in half which most of us wanted to do

I thought Freys work rate was poor,

I thought Andersens was lamentable.

The defensive 6 supported by Smyth & Saito worked their socks off to cover the other 2 who knocked in an occasional jog.

Tough games coming up, we need 10 outfield players at it, no way Andersen can start in those games & swapping out Frey for Dunne should be considered,

Dunne our most attacking threat with Chairs crosses, most assists?most touches in opposition box?two footed, right foot chips, left foot worldies, sounds ridiculous but we need to hold the ball up the pitch and stop opposition centre Halves stepping up and walking through us.

So you’d start a defender up front instead of Frey? 😂

Dykes being dropped from the Scotland squad has hit you hard.

Just don't think he was capable of any more, parky. He looked absolutely goosed by the end. It was etched all over his face.

I'd start a mobile footballer up top who actually has the following attributes:

Mobility, Frey doesn't
Physical Strength, For me Frey is all WWE
Wins Back to Goal Headers, Frey doesn't
Wins Facing goal Headers, see Dunnes Assists
Never gives up, See Marti lose it with Frey yesterday

Stats wise, at one point this season, Dunne had the most touches in the opponents box, has scored with his head, left & right foot as we have seen,

We have must win games coming up, 10 grafters will see us home,

We likely have no Cook, Field or Chair, 3 grafters,

We won't get away with yesterday's brilliant rear guard action with 2 men down too often, although Edwards was superb and with Varane returning we should be OK.

Plus isnt my man Lyndon (not Jimmy) injured?

And it's not too long ago the vocal majority on this board wouldn't have Jimmy Dunne anywhere near the starting XI or our club.

Both Frey and Anderson were done well before 90 minutes. Koki as well. Otherwise he'd have got a lot closer to James for the trip.

Who is this mythical striker you speak of that currently sits fit and well within our squad?

Given Frey is currently the only one available and he doesn't look fully fit himself, what do you expect?

I was following up on another thread where a poster said now is the time to swap Frey out for Dunne,

Good first touch, finish with either foot, wins headers, never gives us, Cryuff turns the lot.

I'm not there yet, but might be after Stoke away & the gap closing further.

You can knock Frey for a lot, he's not a very good footballer, but his work rate yesterday was extremely high.

Gaffer on today's draw on 12:24 - Mar 16 with 992 viewsMr_Beef

Frey has a goal on average every two and a half games played in the league this season. He works hard every game and unsettles defenders in a way that we've not had a striker do for quite some time.

Yes, at times he has an awful touch and there's better out there in the championship, but I'm not sure where this idea that we can afford to go out and sign a forward who is significantly better than Frey is coming from.

I actually think he's decent on the ground, it's his workmate for me, could be wrong,

It's not at Andersen or Madsen levels and like Sinclair Armstrong it could be down to his physiology & body mass, but like Sinclair Armstrong he just gasses out 20 minutes in and after that as much as he may tries, we relying on fits & starts of energy, sometimes he can muster a 15 yard run, other times he can't.

Sat in a different part of the ground yesterday so saw the spat with Marti, looked like he was berating his pressing, could be wrong.

Either way, without Chair, if Frey starts, holding the ball in the final third could be challenging in these must win games.

Well, we agree he's quite limited.

A line from Simmo which will make the match report - very little to offer but never stops offering that.

I think, again, it shows you not only what we had to work with yesterday, but also what Cifuentes has been working with all season. Ideally you'd have four strikers of which Frey is the fourth with Kolli as your potential breakthrough from the academy as a fifth option. At the moment we've got one, and it's Frey. Even when everybody is fit Frey is our first choice forward, Kolli probably third and we're having to use people like Lloyd who are just not at the level.

I think it's amazing we got a point with that team out yesterday, and that we're as far away from the bottom three as we are with this squad.

He hustles and bustles, but that was about it yesterday. What's the point of working hard (which is the minimum anyway) if you can't/don't shoot, win headers, hold t/he ball up, or lay it off? Not good enough, not fit enough, and just not enough unless we want to stat the bottom half Champ team we seem to have become.
