I'll admit privately to you (but not to the other buggers on this message board) that I couldn't understand the clamour to sign Ronnie Edwards, apart from some swooning over him. If we manage to keep him here for a few seasons, I'm sure he will join Jimmy on the latest cult express.

Stand with me for that second half of that monstrosly entertaining game on Saturday and they might understand why .

She said surely not Q. Now I’ve been banging on about QPR for at least the last thirty years. But somehow outside the collective radar of well known clubs. My sons who have friends who support the bigger clubs are quite proud to be supporters of not one of the obvious teams. Loved the article Dorse.

I mean, we signed him for his hair! How QPR is that? In the entire history of the club probably only Gerry Francis has had more words expended on his Barnet.
| Join the dark side: we have biscuits – Column on 06:19 - Sep 24 with 3121 views | Malintabuk | Great read.. and sitting in my office had a little chortle... There is something really really special about this club... OK it helps that we are all stark raving loony... after all we have 3 premiership clubs within 10 miles of us... and still get 15k certifiably insane turn up every other Saturday... notwithstanding if you ever someone lapsed and attended North Battersea you would need to be sheep dipped afterwards.... as a precautionary measure I look at my grandson and my brother's and thnk why on earth have we started them on this road to mediocrity and self flaggiation.... And then you are sitting in a restaurant, or walking down the street in some outpost of the empire and you get "YOU RSSSSSSSS" from a total stranger.... and just know they are family I have a Liverpool son in law... and a Charlton one... and I have never seen while I have been with them the same response Nail head hit Dorse my man..... | | | |

We are indeed a very unique football club - Our name is unique, our ground and location is unique, our kit is unique and on it goes....... We all follow QPR for many reasons and our fanbase is unique too. As you say with three Premier League teams within a few miles of us it's incredible that our fanbase is in fact growing not shrinking. Wherever you are in the world why do we always have to say "You R'rs" when we meet another fan...... For me my cult hero was Johnny Byrne - At the time I was a young teenage boy going to football with my mates without a care in the world. Great days indeed!! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

My wife's solicitor says I have to cease and desist talking about the Rs at home, after her mother had to feign a heart attack to escape my detailed explanation of how our use of inverted wingers freed up our fullbacks to overlap, creating an overload in the final third. It's for the best.

My kids are the same. My daughter asked for a 1982 home shirt for her birthday this year. She wore it out in town and got 2 'URs!' from passing strangers and several kids wandering up to take a closer look. Her mates were mystified! The cult lives.

Her and her friends get chatting to some lads. The "what do you do" topic comes up. The lad says he plays football but he doubts she would have heard of the team (on basis the she just a girl) Who do you play for she says, QPR is the answer. Why do you think I wouldn't have heard of them (on the basis that she's just.girl)??? She proceeds to show him a picture of her and her brother aged about 5 and 2 in full QPR kit and states she's been a supporter all her life. She topped it off with the comment "and I've got a seat in the upper loft with my fukcing name on it". Laddo didn't know what to say 🤣🤣 [Post edited 24 Sep 12:51]

Hope the solicitor's put something in writing so you can use the 'thought she was crying wolf again' defence in the event of a real emergency 😏

I knew lads that tried the same thing but, sadly for them, pretending to play for Swindon Town never quite did the trick.

I remember when 19 of us were on one of our eraly days "Jolly Boys" holidays in Teneriefe 1989. We convinced loads of Northern lasses we were the QPR U21 reserve squad on a team bonding session. But then one young lady also believed that one of our lot worked at Woburn Safari park as the Crocodile Dentist. Anyway...... Great article and a couple of us were only talking at the game last week about "cult status" around W12. Some really random one's for me like Andy Tillson and Ben Aziz in the centre back positions..... more obvious one's like Mark Dennis and Devon White. More of this please!

A few years back, my youngest daughter who comes to games with me came home from school upset that all the boys were mocking her for supporting QPR. I asked her who they all support. Man City she said (we live in Berkshire). I told her to ask them how many games they go to - the answer was predictable and she has lorded over them ever since. If you know, you know.

Presumably she slapped him and said "no, after you say queens park rangers, you say the FINEST football team, the world has ever seen"

Great read, my wife of 32 years doesn’t get it but was genuinely impressed this time last year when she was ill in bed in Sydney ( bless her) so I walked around the harbour with last seasons shirt on. Even I was surprised by COYRS and super ….. hoopsa being shouted at me from all angels and took selfies and joined a bunch in a pub. Biggest small club, best shirt
