| Burnley Reflection 22:01 - Nov 3 with 2770 views | bluenwhite10 | 2 points dropped today against a very poor effortless Burnley side. In the 1st 20mins we were in such control against a side that gave us so much space to play in. In the last couple of home games Derby and Swansea we have played lots of pretty one touch football around the box which has paid off, but tonight none of it come off. Kone, Saito, Kamara, Vale and Kone looked well off the pace tonight. Gifted an equalising goal from some poor keeping. I will keep an open mind Obikwu but that miss was poor and after tonight and Charlton away he does not look up to the standard. I have seen us lose games like this in the past, we didn’t so that is the positive to take away. Edwards again MOM Come on you R’s | | | | |

| Burnley Reflection on 22:10 - Nov 3 with 2121 views | JohnBurkeQPR | This season has been a very strange one, as I don't remember the last season I've seen us dominate so many games (Bolton, Preston, Charlton, Burnley) and yet we've come out with 4 points from 12. Even more worrying that two/three of those teams look destined for the drop Yet on the flip side, we've already had two demolishing's against Derby and Swansea. I can't seem to work us out. Are we good? Have we just played bad teams? Have we been unlucky? I am sticking on the side of we are good, but ideally we need to start turning these draws into wins. Starting on Saturday. | | | |

In short, we are a lot better than last season but not quite good enough yet to challenge. But we are definitely one of the better and more stable teams in the division I reckon and if we can get players back and momentum, who knows?

Chair was never going to start this game after so long out (and the handful of mins v Southampton won't have made any difference).

| Burnley Reflection on 22:34 - Nov 3 with 1857 views | dmm | A disappointing night but at least we didn't lose like we often can in a game like that. One thing I didn't understand was why our wide men were playing so narrow. It meant we hardly ever got behind Burnley's defence and that the midfield often became congested. | | | |

Yes, that was odd. Manager still hasn't found a way to win with more possession - surely that ends on Saturday? [Post edited 3 Nov 22:39]

Thought Cirkin was a positive and great to see Chair back . 2 points dropped and need to get 3 points against Lincoln | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| Burnley Reflection on 22:57 - Nov 3 with 1598 views | kensalriser | One of those games in which had one of those early chances gone in we'd probably have won comfortably. I don't think the problem was so much we weren't creating chances, more we couldn't convert them, which is hardly a new thing this season. Maybe we made them look that way, but Burnley didn't seem anything like bad enough to go down and I'm sure they won't. | |

| Burnley Reflection on 23:00 - Nov 3 with 1573 views | Logman | Didn't think Burnley were that bad. Just looked like a team that had been mismanaged. If their new manager knows how to get a tune out of them I think they will start climbing the table. I also didn't think we were that bad. But it broke down too often with the players who aren't quick enough on the ball and Glen Kamara seems to be retreating into his shell too often. By and large however I thought we got players forward quite well and with a bit more confidence and panache in the box we could easily have won by a couple of goals. | | | |

How many more times is Smyth going to be played in the wrong position? He was wasted on Saturday and the same thing happened tonight. This is our most attacking player and he never sees the ball playing up front with Kone. Get him wide and get some chalk on his boots instead of Saito attempting to play there.
| Burnley Reflection on 23:14 - Nov 3 with 1482 views | ManinBlack | The bright lights of 16th are getting brighter as we gradually drop down the table. For the first time this season Sheffield United have gone above us. A few weeks ago Norwich were bottom three but now are right behind us. Portsmouth have moved above us and I note Stoke have won four away games on the bounce hence why they are now five points ahead of us. I am extremely hacked off that a crap Burnley side got a point. When they were good they beat us easily on our patch but we can't return the favour when they are struggling. Two reasons for not winning is the loss of injured key players and not having a decent striker to convert draws like tonight and against Bolton/Preston into wins. In truth tonight the game should have been goalless as I believe both keepers should have stopped the two goals. We were too slow going forward and too much passing and not having a shot at goal which was reminiscent of last season. My mood not improved watching Sky Sports and Francis Benali describing Southampton's first half showing tonight as shocking. Of course they played on top of their game against us like they did last season. | | | |

Ref wasn't giving much to Smyth or Saito, so not sure he would have been any more useful on the flank. I think you can tell after 10' if the ref is going to give those kinds of fouls that Paul is great at winning
| Burnley Reflection on 23:19 - Nov 3 with 1434 views | queensparker | Funny muted atmosphere at the ground tonight which the game seemed to reflect Kamara is obviously a good player but looked absolutely cooked after an hour, as did Varane, which handed Burnley control of the midfield. And we had nobody to bring on When Smyth also tired after 60 mins (understandable, he must have covered at least twice as many yards as Kone) we had nobody at all left with any pace. Kone was typical Kone on an off day when if he doesn’t score he contributes f all. Edwards gets better all the time and kept trying things, great to see Cirkin and Chair looking fit, and finally a sighting of the lesser-spotted Obikwu who with more composure could have left us all a lot happier Burnley didn’t look all that bad to me, just a team with no confidence, don’t think they’ll do down, certainly seen worse this season (Preston, Derby) Based on our season so far if I was an opposition manager I’d be telling my team if you can keep QPR out for 45 minutes you’re in with a chance because they’re going to fade badly in the second half of games. Keeps happening [Post edited 3 Nov 23:23]

| Burnley Reflection on 23:20 - Nov 3 with 1430 views | baz_qpr | Out of all the performances so far this season that one has angered me the most. Burnley were the worst team I've seen at Loftus Road since ... well us under Ainsworth, that was a team phoning it in. And we were totally dominant first 25 minutes, but the entire front four to man were dreadful the minute they got within 30 yards of the goal, and how many times did we want to walk the ball into the goal rather than take a shot or put in a cross. And of course this was the QPR of old being dragged down to a poor opponents level. And you just knew they were going to score, Vale Smyth, Kone Saito I would have happily hooked all four of them at half time. Standards. Smyth might have worked as a surprise against Swansea but he was ineffective against Southampton. and tonight it just did not work. Back on the wing please. Only when Chair and Kolli came on 2nd half did we look like scoring again we get the equaliser and then the midfield just fell apart. Varane has been fairly decent in the first half of the last two games and then 2nd half goes to pieces everything just breaks down through him. Vale needs time on the bench he is getting worse every game, Saito bench impact at best not a starter. So frustrating! | | | |

It’s not only about the fouls,it’s where he can impact the game like he did against derby and Swansea, and that isn’t by chasing lost causes in the middle of our attack. He gets full backs ruffled by running at them with the ball, not by watching it sail over his head.
| Burnley Reflection on 23:38 - Nov 3 with 1322 views | EuroRanger | Just got back. I think we were mediocre across the park, but Burnley set up to frustrate and frustrate they did. Starting at the back, Charles was uncharacteristically off target with passes today, though Jimmy and Ronnie were both very solid ahead of them. Adamson and Cirkin both had pretty poor games I thought, with Adamson especially looking suddenly low on confidence which he made worse by giving the ball away too frequently. Moving forward, Varane I thought was tidy in the binman role, but he's a limited player. Good to see him score, though. Kamara to me looked leggy and a half yard behind the play, which was unusual when he normally seems so assured. We could've desperately used Madsen to get the ball moving faster today. Vale was fine but lacks the pace to threaten wingers, and Saito couldn't trap a bag of cement today. Up front Kone had almost no service and thus spent the whole day looking for it (which means he wasn't where he needed to be to score), and Smyth never really got anything over the top that he could get his teeth into. To be honest, it was probably one of Smyth's weaker recent games as he just seemed a bit too slow to ever make a decision. Once the subs came on, I thought Kolli was really poor and seemed confused about what he was supposed to be doing. Smyth got openly frustrated with him at one point, though he improved when Obikwu came on. I thought Obikwu was an improvement as he put himself about well, but he really really needed to hit the target with his chance. Dembelé looked up for it but couldn't seem to get the ball to fall to him, and it was lovely to see Illy back but he definitely isn't match fit yet. His chance on the pull back was golden and should've been buried, and he made a few wayward passes. Overall a pretty middling and leggy performance against one of the worst sides in the division. Burnley were completely bereft of inspiration and only scored from frankly a fairly lucky chance. But they did set up to make themselves hard to beat and they achieved that. We should've been much more creative and much more clinical, but I've also seen Rangers teams CPR themselves to a 2-0 defeat in these circumstances so I guess we can take the point and move on. This does make the Lincoln game a must-win, though, which feels very very dangerous to me. | | | |

And yet he had his best ever game for us as a striker playing off Kone v Swansea. I only saw the second half and we were dire for most of it. Passes going astray, huge hole down the centre,,,long balls to no-one, letting Burnley knock the ball around at will in front of us - very poor.

Maybe that was a novelty with him playing there against Swansea. All I know that he hasn’t been the same player on Saturday and again tonight.

Bit worried Kamara is turning out a la Hayden. Supremely solid in his first half a dozen games and then reverting to type. Hayden was praised big time in his first few games for us and showing that mature and high quality solid dependable centre mid, but then drifted into mediocrity. Kamara I do hope does not go down the same rabbit hole. Madsen is now being missed and today I had hoped Isak could have had a fifteen minute run out. He looked very tidy in pre season and with our lack of depth and quality in these areas, hope he gets an opportunity soon. Maybe on Saturday.

To be fair that does include a run in against Middlesbrough (1st), Birmingham (2nd), Swansea (4th), West Brom (5th), Southampton (6th), and West Ham (8th).

Kemper is carrying an injury and has played a lot since coming back from a fairly long injury. Chair has had a succession of injuries for the past two seasons and you think that both of them should have started? Righto… You’re right that we have to be more realistic about whether we’re going to get in the play offs. Our first eleven has a very decent chance but as in the past injuries are killing us. But we don’t have some divine right to be in the playoffs. I still think if we manage it we’ll be punching above our financial weight. However I am not writing them off every time we don’t get three points or toasting us with champagne and assuming it’s in the bag every time we do. It’s a long old season and we’re still within touching distance.
