Smyth,s Goal? on 14:51 - Dec 14 by CLAREMAN1995 | Have to expand that a bit there colinallcard I would say excellent . Corner for them bouncing around I think Smyth actually touched it then turned upfield.Varane booted it clear to Smyth who looked up and said " holy fcuk their keeper is wandering around in our half " so he rounded him (keeper could not touch him of course automatic red card ) and shot in into the net from just inside their half sublime really. Just like an empty net goal in hockey only bigger ball and net. It bounced into the side of the net right in front of the delirious QPR fans pure magic moment . |
Varane didn't boot it - it was actually a nicely weighted pass to set Smyth on his way. Absolutely outstanding breakway goal all ends up right down to the celebratory somersault! [Post edited 14 Dec 17:30]

I thought the keeper tried half-heartedly to block Smyth, who had to decide whether to go down. This time, he made the right decision.
Smyth,s Goal? on 18:38 - Dec 14 with 2463 views | dutch | I loved the goal, I like the man, but all this love for Smyth is more than a little fickle. He is the most frustrating player in the club, of course he is fast and big hearted and he drives me regularly mad, just learn to cross for God's sake. Well done today lad, but let's not kid ourselves.

Smyth,s Goal? on 18:57 - Dec 14 with 2343 views | queensparker | Smyth has been an integral part of this backs to the wall revival - has defended brilliantly, run himself into the ground and while his end product is wildly inconsistent he’s a 100% starter for me at the moment Delighted for him with that goal. He made a hard finish look easy. Just totally amazed that for the first time all season he didn’t go down when the keeper brushed past him

Smyth,s Goal? on 21:50 - Dec 14 with 2010 views | numptydumpty | Crackerjack of a goal. Was expecting Smyth to miss but he caught it perfectly. Was 65th minute and our very first goal attempt of the game. We were in the ascendancy in the game after and could have sneaked all three near the end. Decent !!

Some of us have backed the little fella since Day One of his hooped career Others dig him out more than people like Barton whose goals and assists ratio for the club are woefully inferior Smudge makes my squad every damn week at the moment Till you show me someone with more endeavour, pace, attitude plus ability so shall it remain

Maybe someone who was actually there can confirm…not really clear on the TV, but was this more a tactical blunder than the goalies fault? Looks like he may have been deliberately positioned well up the pitch as part of their set up for corners given that we had everyone back. So not so much a howler more a brilliant pass and execution by Varane and Smyth. Expect the same v Preston. Perhaps we should give away more corners!

Manning was scathing about it after, which suggests their keeper went off piste. Hopefully Smyth will try the not going down thing a bit more often now, now he and we know he can finish. Doesn't alter the fact it was our sole shot after 65 minutes, but what a beauty!

Smyth,s Goal? on 20:22 - Dec 15 with 1040 views | hoops_legend | Hold on here guys ! Smyth cops a lot of abuse normally and now suddenly he’s a hero… Can we all be a bit more realistic and admit that he’s a passionate footballer with limited ability. He will never stop running and he tries his hardest and can get an opposition defence panicked as he runs at them But he hasn’t suddenly transformed into one of our great players because of one great well taken goal and a good cross the game before. His end product is poor and isn’t of championship standard and one of the reasons we have struggled I like him and he would always be on bench for me with 10 mins to run at players at the end but let’s not pretend he’s anymore than that

Smyth,s Goal? on 21:19 - Dec 15 with 936 views | Logman | Would be interested to know percentage rate of crosses Dave Thomas landed onto Don Givens' head. Not saying Paul Smyth is of a similar calibre but let's also not pretend that there are stacks of right wingers that get past their full back every time and deliver an inch perfect cross onto the centre forward's head. I'd put Paul Smyth's success rate at getting a cross in as no lower than any other right winger that we've had (or that I've seen in the Championship) over the last 15 years.

You got to store the little acorns of positivity for the harsh winter of losing streaks haven't we? Apart from that, I think Smyth is great and his crossing HAS improved. Did you see his cross to Kolli the other night? [Post edited 16 Dec 11:41]

The wonderfully gifted Dave Thomas who could cross effortlessly with either foot. The best winger I have seen at QPR. A player who played at the highest level for the majority of his career, with England caps to boot. Comparisons, directly/obliquely, are being drawn with Paul Smyth, really. And yes, Dave Thomas would get past defenders and deliver accurate/inch perfect crosses at a rate of frequency that Smyth can only dream of achieving. Achieved on pitches that most of the time resembled quagmires. [Post edited 16 Dec 12:08]
