Would be chuffed for him if they win this.

I mean the media narrative re. Newcastle has become beyond tedious but that is Boy’s Own stuff for ‘big’ Dan Burn.

Well exactly.

I like Newcastle, and I like Newcastle fans so I’m happy for them but the Roy of the Rovers stuff is sickening because the ownership are soaked in blood as are others.

Well done the Newcastle players and Howe today. Totally deserved.

They join us as teams that have won 1 league cup, although we should be on two after the two legged final against Liverpool in 86.

I still can't believe they cancelled that final and then went further and removed that whole weekend from the calendar

I’m pretty meh about the Saudi thing. Shouldn’t be allowed but Pandora’s box was opened a long time ago.

Good for an English manager and team with plenty of English players to win something. Doesn’t happen often. They seem like a good bunch by modern football standards and Howe is likeable enough. The interview with Guimaraes after was lovely.

Said the exact same thing. Peter Dury trying to make the moment about him. Trying desperately to find a soundbite that will be used time and again when they show clips of Newcastles first trophy win in decades

That’ll happen if you are married to Eileen.

Glenda was always the third wheel in that relationship.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

This!

I remember cringing when Motty came out with the 'crazy gang have beaten the culture club'. You felt he'd worked on that in the week leading up to the final and unlike Kenneth Wolstenholm's natural commentary at the end of the 66 WCF or even Phil Parry after Zamora's goal, you know when something is dreadfully contrived compared to it being 100% natural.

I was lucky to be invited to the game yesterday in the club Wembley seats in the Newcastle end. It was a great experience to be amongst them as they won their first domestic trophy in 70 years. A great atmosphere in Wembley too.

It's so enjoyable watching a game as a neutral with no emotional involvement - At QPR I kick and head every ball and end up a nervous wreck.

Had a toon fan 4 places down from us in the lower loft on Saturday.
Wondering what he made of our game?
Hopefully the media will have cleaned the stains of thier trousers after yesterday. Apparently it’s been seventy years since the won a domestic trophy.
Who knew?
At the same time happy for the genuine 15000 who kept showing up pre KK .

Was out after the QPR game and saw loads of Newcastle fans in Hammersmith and a few in Bush later. I was working at the game yesterday, saw a bunch of Newcastle fans on the bus up and around the ground was nearly all Newcastle fans (At 10AM anyway), hardly a Liverpool fan in sight. Was a bit odd. Good game though, glad they won, if not just for that old man they interviewed on sky before the game who started crying.

I think that shows how much more it meant to the Newcastle fans and how much more of an occasion it was to them.

Many of the Liverpool fans, a number of which are probably London based anyway, have had numerous cup finals over the years and probably think closer to the line of 'it's just another match'.

The Liverpool players just seemed tired and played without any overt passion or spirit. In compassion several of their players were celebrating tackles and throw ons as if they had just scored.

I'm not bothered who wins the league but I bet Arsenal and Forest will shorten that gap towards the end of the season as Liverpool limp over the line. Much like the last time they won it, they had a terrible run towards the end of the season.

Nice to be there, thehat.

Yes totally agree about the part regards being a nervous wreck watching our games.

I enjoy the wins more when I get back home and watch the television highlights, but during games can't say, it's often the word "enjoy" that comes to mind.
