| Charles's gambit 08:58 - Oct 15 with 4001 views | Logman | What did people think of the near on minute that Charles put his foot on the ball outside the box inviting Derby on. I've never seen anything like it - I thought the ref was going to blow for a re-start I thought he should have gone long because we didn't really gain anything from when he finally played across to Jimmy at right centre back | | | | |
| Charles's gambit on 09:04 - Oct 15 with 2725 views | stevec | It was hilarious. Teams are genuinely frightened to approach him as it’ll leave one man free and they know he’ll find them. Never seen anything quite like this fella. | | | |
| Charles's gambit on 09:05 - Oct 15 with 2718 views | hubble | I thought it was brilliant - toying with Derby, winding them up - it showed supreme confidence. And yeah, maybe not the best pass in the end, but it reflected our total dominance of the game at that point. | |

So you think we'll make it into Europe next season. Could be.

with Man City, has their punishment been set then?
| Charles's gambit on 10:02 - Oct 15 with 2284 views | Malintabuk | Said on the match Fred last night.. in all my years going I don't think I have ever seen a more complete keeper He really does have everything... he commands his area well... he positioning on shots is very good... and his distribution is well phenomenal.... He must be a joy to play in front of as a defender | | | | Login to get fewer ads
| Charles's gambit on 10:07 - Oct 15 with 2240 views | NorthantsHoop | He has taken our team up another level. This season the defence is our strength. | | | |
| Charles's gambit on 10:17 - Oct 15 with 2174 views | loftboy | This is what Jurgen Sommer did against Manchester United in 1996, the ball is in play, it’s up to the opponent to close him down, Fergie intimidated the ref with his stop watch around his neck and the ref incorrectly added on time for time wasting. Still makes me angry to think about it.@ | |

| Charles's gambit on 10:23 - Oct 15 with 2138 views | Stainrod | In microcosm, that incident reflected the challenge of what do you do when a team just refuses to come out to play, as many of the poorer sides who come to Loftus Rd do. It’s a work in progress but we are definitely coming closer to unlocking that key: the Charles out-ball of course, Mad Boy Kember marauding down the left, and Ronnie stepping into midfield for long stretches when in possession. | | | |
| Charles's gambit on 10:46 - Oct 15 with 2020 views | TheChef | Kudos to Nourry, Belk, whoever at the club for getting him in. Could well be the difference between making the play offs or not. Or dare we even dream of automatic promotion?? | |

| Charles's gambit on 11:04 - Oct 15 with 1908 views | Beckenhamhoop | I’d be interested to know how Charles’ style of play has impacted on Ward and Salomon. Whether they have improved as goalkeepers as a result. If they are training to emulate him (tough ask) so that it impacts us less should he get i*ju*ed and also looking forward to next season when Charles is unlikely to still be here. Great comment 👏👏👏 I hope our other keepers are watching and learning in preparation for next season 👍 | | | |
| Charles's gambit on 11:36 - Oct 15 with 1734 views | OakR | I liked it, For me it summed up what JS wants, which is not to give the ball away cheaply and the wait for the right opportunity. Everyone is calm is how we play and wait for 'moments'. I also love his confidence, at 21, to do it. No panic, just wait and see. No aimless hoofing it up and losing it. Probably the calmest man in the ground at that time, well maybe with JS. Obviously you don't want the whole match to be like this, but it was winning and it happens again I definitely don't mind it as that is what we want to wait for the press and then play through it. | |

Yes, fair play to Nourry as he got it badly wrong last season. We've gone from the goalkeeper being our weakest link to our strongest.
| Charles's gambit on 11:57 - Oct 15 with 1574 views | dmm | Are there other keepers who play like Charles - accurate short and long passing using both feet, drawing players onto himself and almost goading them to try it? I don't think so. I wouldn't be surprised to see other keepers trying to copy him and it would be interesting to see if many/any could do so. | | | |

All we have to do is win the FA Cup, easy, right? Oh and get a cut price deal from Man City to sign him on a 10 year contract. I'm in.

3-0 down and they're still too scared to press the goalkeeper. Unreal scenes
| Charles's gambit on 12:50 - Oct 15 with 1299 views | Stocktake | Don't want to rain on everyone's parade, but other teams will be studying him very closely for weaknesses so will be interesting to see how he gets on 2nd half of the season. Especially against teams with a full on neanderthal approach like Millwall. | | | |

2nd half it looked to me like Derby were targeting Boy Kemper for a bit of rough treatment. Quite surprised they were targeting him.

I felt that was already apparent in how much Derby were sitting off him. He just seems so good he still took the piss out of them
| Charles's gambit on 13:13 - Oct 15 with 1128 views | kensalriser | Was laughing the whole way through, I thought it was hilarious. I don't know why the ref would have blown for a restart - the ball was in play, there's no law that says you can't hold on to a stationary ball for as long as you like. Derby looked terrified to approach. | |

It's difficult to see how you counter him. It's damned if you press him and damned if you don't. He'll probably make a mistake or two when being aggressively pressed, but apart from that, he's got all the cards.
