Probably time to start this with this

I'd sell Dembele in a heartbeat. He's about to turn 23 and still plays like a teenager who's never been coached - something of a threat when running with the ball at feet, but no idea how to play within a team structure or how to defend. Add in the physical deficiencies and he's shown no sign whatsoever of being capable of playing in the Championship.

Field is different, but I admit I'm biased and would have him in the starting XI every week. The only reason I'd even consider selling him is if he was asking for a move, and even then I'd be very reticent, especially if Varane is off now or in the summer.

Isn’t the simple view that for sometime we now have clubs very interested is buying our players? Surely, that’s not a bad approach given what the CEO has set out to do. If the recent injuries hadn’t happened, it looks as though a number of players would have been moved on.

Also, I assume if Kone and Burrell continue their current strike rate it’s obvious that one or both of them would receive serious interest in the summer. They were purchased for a circa combined fee of £6M but if we receive one offer of £7-8M for one of them surely we would sell?

Kone, I would sell but I think there is a lot more to come from Burrell.

Well, we can agree that the strategy appears in some regards dubious - though we don't know any true figures - while perhaps also acknowledging that current injuries notwithstanding the squad is also currently as good as it's been in a good while. We need a full back or two. But it's nicely balanced, filed with youth and experience right now? Work in progress, but there is, to my eyes, progress.

I don't think Nourry could've got away with saying that they've extended Sam Field's contract in order to sell him in the next year. But that's what they did to all extents and purposes. Same I imagine with Smyth.

Players have to be sold. But they've done pretty well with the buying the last few windows, I think.

Squad has DEFINITELY improved. But it should do if you spend £25m in 18 months, and only sell Charlie Kelman, Lyndon Dykes, and Sinclair Armstrong.

How do you keep that going though, whilst also retaining enough experience and professionalism in the squad, so it’s not a squad full of young gambles, to ensure the team maintains and improves on field results? Again, I would say your Fitness/Performance function is a key to that, but I’ve made that point.

My frustration is that I agreed with Nourry’s words back in May. It felt like a lesson learnt - we need some experience pros around with which to do the player trading so we have consistency and a few players laying standards down. But now those pros are up for sale…to enable more player trading.

Balance. I say it all the time. Not every player in the team/squad can be a signing to sell, a signing on potential, a signing who hasn’t done it at this level yet. You need to some meat and potatoes in there, that are reliable and experienced at this level, who you don’t sell, and age at the club, helping to bring on the high potential players.

Marc Leonard linked again, as with every transfer window these days. We must really love the bloke. Central midfielder so I assume contingent on Varane leaving this window and/or Field (which would be a big mistake in my opinion)

Blues fan I know really rates Leonard though, apparently he wants to leave because he wants to be playing every week

Technically really solid and had some elite passing stats with Brum, like you say would likely mean a departure but his playstyle is definitely more Madsen than either Varane or Field. I think they'd be looking at a midfield depth of:

Madsen / Leonard then Hayden / Varane or Field

Of what I've seen of Kone thus far, and only on TV, I'm finding him increasingly frustrating. Early days of course, but to me, he seems slower, looks tubbier, and maybe it's me, but I find his control and distribution often disappointing.

Doubly frustrating, because, I think the boy can finish! I just don't think he should be asked to do much more than get on the end of things and certainly not play behind the main striker. Plus, I think Buzz facing the goal with his speed is a far more potent player than with his back to goal.

Still, far happier with these two and Kolli, than Armstrong, Dykes, and Right Said Frey.

I think Kone is a bit up and down, and I think we all assumed he had pace but he is a Harry Kane type of striker not pacey, decent finisher decent hold up play. But he is improving and has at times struggled to adjust to the pace of the game, but when he has played as the 9 he has produced.

Max O'Leary from Bristol City on loan interesting us too according to Sky. No idea why, just play one of Walsh, Hamer or Nardi.

You may remember him otherwise from the Paul Smyth goal from range last season.

I have a lot of time for Sam Field, I hope we can keep him.

No, thank you. It would be so QPR to replace a keeper who doesn't come for crosses with one who runs to the half way line.

While we’re talking about keepers,is there any legs in the original opening post ? Now he would definitely be an upgrade 👍
Other than that I’d stay with Walsh after his recent outing, where I think had his big Padula
moment 😊😉

In the future everyone will be goalkeeper for QPR for 15 minutes.

We've been linked before. Something seems to have gone wrong if ge can't get in the Brum team, who are below us. Is he Varane's replacement? We've rebuffed Saint Etienne as the purchase is dependent on them getting promoted to L1. They are currently 4th, so it's a risk. They want to limit the risk by losn-to-buy. What's in it for us?

Barnsley seem to be signing a Murphy Cooper Replacement, which is strange as we haven't recalled him..have we?

Another reminder that Kone is a (still very young) player that's less than 2 years out of non league football. He's playing at his highest level so far and just scored a goal against a PL team within 6 months of his move from League One.

I love Burrell and think his skills are perfect for this league, but Kone has a much higher ceiling and just needs time / patience.

The level he was at in non-league always gets lost in this too, it's not like he jumped from the National League. He was at a Step 5 (I think) side in Athletic Newham. That is something like 4 or 5 promotions to make the National League. His rise has been huge, it's really something he is playing at the level he is already!

Barnsley on a terrible run of form and conceded loads. I think Cooper needs another loan spell somewhere.

I knew Cooper's form had dropped over this season, but I wasn't expecting him to get the boot. We've got a lot of keepers in the house at the moment.

I suspect QPR have a buyer for Cooper. Might be time for Walsh to get a loan unless we can sell Nardi in this window. He’s out of contract in the summer.
