Yes. Very sweet. Only marred by my computer freezing so I missed the winning goal. By the time it returned it was history and I didn't find out who, or how, it was scored for several minutes. BTW, WLS gave Madsen 9/10 and Man of the Match. First time I've seen that high a rating. though I'm sure it's happened previously some time during the dark ages.

Great report as usual Clive. And agree the old girl was rocking at the end.... never heard 'Hi-Ho" sung so loudly it was deafening...

Agree re the Wrexham game I thought we really good against them as well.... and the last 4 minutes were stuff of dreams and nightmares .... delete as appropriate.

There is definitely something very likeable about this team and dare I say manager.... and in the last few games we have played ugly to get result and then played really well to also get results... a sign of a good team, or at least a good team in the making ?

Just need an away win ... and hopefully that will be Friday

Magnificent match report Clive, thanks.

I’ve been waiting for the joy of reading your take on that wonderful performance by Kone and Madsen all day on Sunday - who knew you were working on the theory that “sleeping is cheating” and you’d post it at two in the morning!?!

Happy Monday morning. Roll on Friday evening.

Thank you.

I made a late decision not to go, (traffic disruptions, weather, mood after last week...) and decided to watch from Belgium. Fab report that helps me get something near the collective joy and Silver Lining experience that I missed out on. Many thanks Clive (like I said to you in the C&S pre Wrexham game)

Great report as always . Feel privileged to be that close to those two goals in safe standing .
Kone’s goal was superb and he’s ability to shift his feet was awesome.
No better man for the second one to fall to than Madsen . We were celebrating before he hit it .
Last weeks train ride to West Ruislip was morgue like . This week was the total opposite.

Great report as always. Ridiculous club this isn't it? After last week I was considering not coming again for a while as it was just too much, even for us. But thankfully I was there for this and what a thing to witness. I've spent the rest of the weekend in a fantastic mood and thinking how much I love this club. Can't wait for Friday now (!)

Weirdly, at the Wrexham game, after the equaliser it felt inevitable that they'd get the winner. Here though, even with 7 minutes of added time I was strangely calm and confident. I thought our defence looked solid all game apart from their goal which was the only real lapse. And there was something in Jimmy Dunne's body language that made me feel we were not going to let this slip. Another proper captain's performance - him and Cook were immense. Perhaps he read last week's report?

Great stuff

Glory hunter, me

And here it is another masterpiece from our mentor - Thank you Clive we have been waiting for that since 5.00pm Saturday - "Can't wait for Clives report" was the general consensus of a full car heading back up the A40 Saturday evening.

It really is incredible how this bloody football club can take you to the depths of despair one weekend then to the top of the world seven days later. After 50 years of going to Loftus Road I should be used to it by now but it never fails to surprise me how a simple game of football can affect my general wellbeing.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride I keep telling myself........

Wasn't Loftus Road a great place to be at 4.55pm Saturday - Bloody Marvellous!!

Was a great day,one of the big improvements this season is ending these runs without a win a lot quicker than in previous seasons.

For their goal it was Bennie at fault imo, switched off and let his man run around the back of Edwards, by the time he turned and realised it was a goal. Apart from that I thought he did quite well though

Watching the scenes from the ground, captured superbly by the all about rs guys, it really is a special and rare place. It will be a sad, sad day if we ever leave it.

To be fair to Bennie, it was really clever play by Eccles and probably planned. You see it really well in the beardy Coventry fan's YouTube. Bennie tracks him as he runs into the box, past the penalty spot and between the centre backs. I don't know if the protocol is to leave him to Dunne and Cook, or keep following - either way, he switches off as Eccles doubles back into the space left by the striker who has moved from left to right, followed by Edwards. The important thing is that they work out what has to happen next time.

On the ref, though I wanted it to be a penalty, I thought he was above average by recent standards. What really enrages me are refs who are super strict for ten minutes, then lose their nerve when it comes to making big calls, or who allow outright violence but get shirty about free kicks from the wrong place., or who make decisions based on nistrionic reactions rather than facts. Kone benefitted from his tolerance of physical competition but was rightly booked for a foul, and in general it didn't look like the players were taking advantage of him. Smyth to me looks short of form of confidence (injured perhaps?). I'm a fan of his attitude, but from quite early he looked nervous, his control was shaky and he rescued his embarrassment by going down for dubious free kicks. I don't doubt he'll bounce back though.

Sorry, deeply ungrateful of me to get so far without thanking Clive for the cream on this weekend's cake. At 1.45 pm, I could barely muster the energy to walk to the front door but at 5 pm I was floating above W12, the needle having swung from "Wrexham" to "Birmingham".

What a great report Clive. Just when we thought Wrexham may have killed our season they step up like that. Obviously Friday is a huge game as well, visiting two of our old strikers and a manager, who apart from being quite gracious in our last fixture with Charlton, generally hates us. Win that, or at least avoid defeat and it would have been a much better week. Hopefully this win pushes us on.

A few other honourable mentions. Vale, channeling his best Faurlin impression, linking between Bennie and Madsen so effortlessly. Harvey's hair! I mean, Harvey's luscious hair! Was this part of Cookie's BOGOF Turkish hair transplant in the summer? I haven't seen such a hair resurrection since Andros Townsend's magnificent mane.

Madsen reminding me of John Gregory in his pomp (for those of us who remember him) and young Bennie, who instinctually became the water carrier between Vale and Madsen, often mopping up around them. He has a lot to learn and possibly will need a loan but actually, with Dembele now out, and as a Vale/Madsen support act, he could really find his niche. Plus his pace. We think Burrell has pace. This lad can shift.

So many excellent performances. Kone leading the line in a way that you would hope gives him bags more confidence. That finish! Not the finish of anyone who doesn't believe in themselves. Kid in a park goal that one.

Never knowingly right.

7-0 up in five-a-side showboating! It was a bit of a blur for me from my seat, only appreciated the mad skillz later on video.

Lovely report and thoroughly enjoyable game.

If Vale is fit, he has to play in that position, week after week.

A good spine is critical irrespective of a few dodgy results here and there. Cook, Dunne, Hayden, Vale, Kone is that spine.

Possession may say otherwise but for the first time in a long while, we controlled that game.

Flew to Miami yesterday morning mate so the time isn’t quite so extreme. Nice way to spend a flight, bottle of wine and lap top out.

When Burrell is fit there's a challenge for Stephan. Koni looked better because he played as a 9. With Burrell in the team he plays deeper and I'm still impressed with him but we probably don't get the best out of him.
Not sure how Kone, Vale, Chair and Burrell fit together? But there'll probably be another injury before Chair and Burrell are fit.
But hey, great to dream about those options.

First of all, thanks Clive for the report.

On tge subject of Smyth being off form, it doesn't help that he is on the wrong with wing. Maybe with Dembele being injured, he might be switched on Friday with Saito on the left.

Another truly excellent report thanks very much..

Unfortunately I was at the CBS Arena in August for the nadir & if anyone had told me we would beat them in the return fixture I would’ve thought they were certifiable. The result on Saturday is particularly good for JS who must’ve been shell shocked after that August game but as mentioned in the report promised an instant response for the next game v Charlton & got it. Obviously the season has ups & downs (last week) but to go on & beat Coventry on Saturday (after conceding the 1st goal) with an excellent performance shows huge improvement.

The extra time was almost unbearable but unconfined joy when the final whistle actually went…...Hi Ho 👏🏻

JS will have to wear that grey coat more often.. 😉

yeah I wouldn't hammer him for it, just switched off at the wrong moment and he'll learn from that. As you say was good play by Eccles as well to create the space
