Young, and I think also looked exhausted too

Also carrying an injury I reckon looking at that strapping, so hopefully will keep going till Burrell is back

He's not the first striker and won't be the last to miss an easy chance but then score with a harder one. As long as he's doing the latter, the former can be worked on.

Yeah, thank god he ended up bagging one or his confidence would've taken a hit. Thing is, he works so hard and was, as he always seems to be, one of our better player, until he missed what looked like a sitter, twice in quick succession. Thing is, he didn't let his head go down, he didn't hide, he just kept working and, as they say, third times a charm. Pleased for the lad!

Come on, he exonerated himself with that goal.

He also helped create the situation which led to Bennie's goal when Kone had three Hull players around him and the ball eventually fell to Bennie.

Indeed. Whatever he’s up to when the balls at his feet, he spends 90 mins giving centre backs a right old battle.

The last few weeks when we played one up top he has looked better. When we go to two up top I feel he tries to cover too much ground. Be the focal point. Work the width of the area and hold it up and get us up the pitch. It's his first season in the league, he is young and has had a rapid rise from where he was a couple of years ago. He will make mistakes. He also looks knackered as he had played pretty much every minute since Burrell got injured. I still don't think we maximise his strengths. However, worked hard and despite a bad miss. He came back, got the ball from closing down and with lots of time to decide what to do, (sometimes the worst thing)he finished brilliantly. He will prove his worth, no doubts

Indeed. He is always in the thick of things. And he opens ups lot of space and chances by drawing player to himself and keeping them occupied. He is a warrior with a good nose for goal. Not perfect, but if he was perfect he wouldn't be playing for us. And he is your enough that there is space for loads of growth in his game

Lovely finish for the goal but thought he was much better outside the box than in many away games. Though Kolli didn’t have a great game it helped just having someone near to him. Takes some balls to finish like that after the nonsense a few minutes earlier.

He wont be perfect at 23, not many 23 yr olds are - He'll grow, and hopefully that will be with us for a few seasons - Well on for double figures this season and then build on that next season - Its not about thats why he plays for us

I like him, as said, always being a nuisance, but he does need a bit more in the finishing dept. But that will come I guess in time.
He looks more like a park player than a classic striker sometimes, but I kinda like that.

Technology advances, unfortunately humans do not.

Respect, Richard.

1) he looks like he is playing injured
2) he still gets into positions to score
3) he keeps going - all game, even with limited support
4) he never gives up - even if he’s just missed a couple
5) he knows where the goal is and when he has time he doesn’t look like missing

Does he have a few limitations - yes.

Is he better than Dykes - no doubt.

Will we get more out of him - for sure.

His close control and passing isn't the best but he's got something about him and definitely keeps going and chasing down. You can see why JS leaves him on for 90 minutes every game. I thought Kolli was fine too. He worked hard and made one or two things happen.

My concern is Saito. He seems to have lost his zip and incision.

His goal is lovely. Lovely chip, and some serious swerve as well!

Kone is almost the opposite of Dykes. Dyke's scored when he didn't have time to think and missed those when he had too much time to think. Kone seems far more comfortable (generally) when he has that moment to think what he's going to do. Obviously the goal against Coventry was instinctive but if he has time to run in on goal he looks more comfortable. He's 22!

Never knowingly right.

Totally agree - plus he knows where to run, he’s nearly always available at the right post.

We are still hard wired not to expect him there because Dykes was always at the wrong post.

Think the lad is not only full of heart ... but is also a very good forward... and we need to enjoy him while he is still with

When was the last time we had 2 forwards on 17 goals and 5 assists in one season let alone in February... fantastic business

I'm really worried we are going to burn him out... he works so hards and gets clattered by big lumps at CH.... JS needs to think long and hard about him at Southampton on Tuesday

This lad from Coventry as kind off put too much pressure on Kone by being injured

Takes his goal really well, especially having fluffed two easier ones, he could easily have bottled it.

It's his control and short passing game that need working on. But he's showed enough to give us the confidence we have in him. Hopefully he can also get a break soon; he looks like he needs it.

I think he had five efforts on target today.

Quite unlucky with instinctive headers
Obviously should’ve scored at least one more that he did.

Massive credit to him though for keeping going and a lovely finish for his goal.

Even more credit for his work rate today as he really did cover the pitch brilliantly and work the defenders well with Kolli and Bennie. Numerous times Dull City gave the ball away due to the press. Good to see.

His hold up play was very scatty though.
Sometimes good, sometimes not so good.
We’ll allow it.

A good day at the office for him and long may they continue and he can make harsh critics like myself eat humble pie

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

That's true.

I have absolutely no issues with his performances in most of his games this season.
He is young and learning to adapt to a higher level of football.

Well done to him and the team today.

An injury depleted squad with 6 attacking players out and managed to win away at Hull to make it 3 wins in a row against them for the 1st time in history if I recall correctly.

He was great today. We’ve signed two strikers, both young and both stepping up
to a higher level . One has already gone over the ten mark and Kone will join him soon .
Still over a quarter of the season to go .
We’ve waited for a decent striker to come along for years . We now have two.

I've upvoted this in error - I really don't think he did. As was said in the match thread he just didn't look very invested, and some of his decisions (yes I know he is young too but even the basics) were very poor. That foul he gave away on the edge of our box, that poor ball through to Kone when he should have shot all poor.

I know you are a fan of Kolli, (as I am of Saito) and so sometimes our views are tainted so we will agree to disagree I guess, but sorry to say he didn't seize his opportunity to start matches today in my opinion. I know I have seen him play much better in sub appearances.

Mr Kone on 17:46 - Feb 21 with 1982 viewsNorrisGreen

I did want to see Kone and Kolli as a front pair but don't think it works - they're too similar. Maybe given time they could gel but sooner Burrell is back the better, I think him in Kone compliment each other and are a potent pairing.

Kolli would be a good back up for Kone I think cos blimey, Kone is being asked to do a helluva job game to game at the moment.
