Just realised - wow the season has gone quickly (for better or for worse).
Feels like another one that was a missed opportunity, given the poor quality of most teams in the division.
I'd be feeling a lot more optimistic if we had more of our better players fit, but at this point I think we'll be getting at most another 15-20 points. And even that feels optimistic right now.
The end of the season can't come quick enough. Looking at our fixtures there are some tricky away games, so wouldn't be surprised if we get another couple of tonkings - bearing in mind their form, our pathetic record in London derbies and being on the beach by then, Millwall away could get nasty. The home matches don't look too bad so at least no repeat of the 5-0 in our final home game last season.

Does feel like next season you will have a stronger division with the following teams having sorted themselves out Saints, Norwich, Sheff U. Plus only one of Ipswich, Wrexham or Birmingham likely to go up. The teams coming down will be hurling money around to go straight up Wolves, Burnley, WHam/Forest/Spurs. So that's 8 teams already looking strong for next season.
As for us and this season, I think it will be successful if we keep avoiding long losing streaks and streaks with no wins. Plus stay bobbing around 10th - 14th. After the next 2 home games there's 5 very winnable home games to come (Pompey, Watford, Bristol, Swans, Derby) so every chance we finish the season alright.
I do think the building blocks are there now. Dunne, Edwards, Madsen, Chair, Burrell, Kone is certainly enough to be cracking on with!
The building blocks all came off the bench on Tuesday. Morgan, Bennie, Adamson, Esquerdinha and, even Varane. Expect to see more of those 5. Plus Smith, Alahmaeyhu?

TBF mate we always reckon it's going to be a stronger division next season and it never is. This year you had Birmingham, Wrexham and Charlton coming up from League One who were all obviously going to spend and stay up. Don't think you could say the same about Cardiff, Lincoln, Bolton, Bradford, Stockport and or Huddersfield.

Been saying this for several weeks now.
We are not getting into the POs so once we hit 50 points, play the pups with the pressure off. I believe some of them might have hamstrings.
Obviously if Cookie is going at the end of the season you give him a final hurrah, and anyone else leaving who is able to stand as well.

First sighting of next season's going to be a tougher division!

Wolves could continue to circle the drain like Luton did.
Hard to say re the other two that come down depending who it is; other than Burnley who could bounce straight back (seems like they're the new Bolton).

Do you mean to say none of that lot have piqued Hollywood’s interest yet?!

Think it's more that we look like 'only' losing 1 parachute payment club in Ipswich (if at all) and the teams coming down are going to be absolutely stacked. Still, Vale and Morgan centre mid should sort that out

It will not be perceived as us being "on the beach". It is an opportunity to give some promising players their opportunities to showcase their talents on the first team. We are building for the future.

As thats likely to be the case , more tonkings are are on the way, im already dreading the thought of esquedina starting tommorow , vale likely central midfield
any idea what time the usual press conference will be shown today cant wait to hear when some of my fav players will not be back .
Will cook still be rested ? smyth ? a clarifaction on which xmas chair will be back ? the lesser spotted poku seen on the training ground obv but wont be ready for a while
Another season, which has left me wondering, if we’re going to be served the same old thing gruel again next season.
And for me, I think the answer is yes. We’ve got another season to come of being outsmarted by clubs of similar financial punching power, parachute payment teams walloping us and us gradually being pulled to our gravitational home of 16th
Sorry for the misery. Just totally bored of the same old, year after year.
