| Harvey Vale 19:27 - Jan 31 with 2751 views | Beckenhamhoop | If he can stay injury free I think he can have a big second half of the season. He’s clearly a technically very good player. Is the central 10 his best position in a 4-2-3-1? | | | | |
| Harvey Vale on 19:31 - Jan 31 with 2664 views | bosh67 | Two things really stood out for me. 1. The link up between Madsen and Vale was excellent and a shout out for Bennie, who seemed to act as the water carrier between them on occasion. That triangle seemed to work very well and was far more creative. 2. Harvey's hair! He either got a recommendation off Cookie or Cookie's new hair has jumped in the wind and self seeded on Harvey's head? | |

| Harvey Vale on 19:52 - Jan 31 with 2539 views | QPR_Hibs | Back in October, during my prediction piece before the Ipswich game, and again, the following week before the Southampton game, I suggested that I would like to see Vale in the "10" role. A few people thought I was mad, but he was superb today. | |

I’m glad something’s self-seeded. The pitch doesn’t look like it’s about to anytime soon.
| Harvey Vale on 20:21 - Jan 31 with 2275 views | QPRSam | Scary thing is that he's probably still finding his feet having not been a regular since October. Clear to see why he was so highly rated in the academy days, his technical ability is top, creativity and linkup today was great. I thought Illy would get straight back into this team but he might end up having some competition here | | | |

| Harvey Vale on 21:25 - Jan 31 with 1926 views | aston_hoop | Had a couple of good games earlier in the season too before fading then getting injured. So the key now is to maintain this consistency. He definitely isn't a winger, but he's showing he is very good in the number 10 role. He reads the game well, has good vision and you can really see that top academy background. Needs to bring it all together now though | |

Exactly. But he had a crucial hand in both goals today, which is great to see. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That was the biggest thing for him; actually completing the full game. He is so much more effective in the centre of the pitch, rather than stuck out wide. I'm sure when he joined JS said he would be used as a CM or 10. A hand in both goals and still running at the end.

| Harvey Vale on 07:16 - Feb 1 with 1371 views | QPROslo | Think that was his best game for us to date by a long way. Finally completed 90 minutes with mostly good passing and involved in the goals. As others have said he looks best in attacking, central midfield. | | | |
| Harvey Vale on 07:37 - Feb 1 with 1327 views | dmm | I'm another who is impressed with Vale. Technically very good and an intelligent player who understands the game a little differently from others. What he lacks in pace, he makes up for in skill. And as others have pointed out, he will only get better as he gets games under his belt. | | | |
| Harvey Vale on 08:01 - Feb 1 with 1230 views | WestbourneR | My main takeaway is that overall I just prefer us in the 4231 formation than with two up top. It just links our play and makes midfield so much more complete. I also think we’ve got a few good potential 10s in the squad. Vale may be beat. Certainly his technique and accurate use of the ball in possession makes a big difference, especially for other technicians like Madsen. | |

| Harvey Vale on 08:37 - Feb 1 with 1127 views | stevec | It’s funny that, if you play players in their best position, they tend to play a lot better than when they’re played out of position. That was where Vale should play, he was excellent. That was where Kone should play, he was excellent. Those two playing where they should play, with Hayden sweeping up, allowed Madsen to have a bit of a wander and guess what, you get a perfect pass into the box the centre forward so rarely receives. We look only Chair and a right winger short of a team that might even win games in possession. Imagine that. | | | |
| Harvey Vale on 08:38 - Feb 1 with 1128 views | numptydumpty | The club clearly saw him as potentially special, because signing a player, who won't be able to play for half a season is a statement in itself. Hope for two things; 1. He maintains this form. 2. He is not another crock. Anyone that can score the goal he did last week, clearly has class. But fair play Harvey - keep at it. We like what we see. | |

| Harvey Vale on 08:52 - Feb 1 with 1038 views | NewYorkRanger | Agree - he looks a good player. Really like him in that role behind Kone and as others have said, having him and Madsen in the team who can both open up defences with their passing is great. What happens when Burrell and Chair are fit? Nice problems to have | |

Yeah, good to have options, but ideally Chair-Vale-Poku behind Kone or Burrell looks a lot more balanced than constantly trying to hit channels and turn the opposition with 2 up front. Hard to tell if it took the unfortunate injury to Burrell for the change to happen but I think it's worth sticking with. Vale being able to hit a quality pass early from an advanced position is something we've been in need of for a while. [Post edited 1 Feb 9:21]

Agree with this but it also gives us options when more players (Chair, Burrell, Poku) are fit. Some games will suit 4231 more and some games will suit 442. It will be interesting to see what line up and formation JS goes with at Charlton on Friday, particularly if Dembele is out for a while.

Agree…and I do love a one-touch midfielder…we seem to have two in the same team Blimus, as Danny P might say

It would depend on the formation. If we revert back to 442 I can see Vale dropped to the bench but in a 4231 he's arguably the best option in the middle of the 3.
